SS Crashing with battle cinematics

Every time I have an in-game cinematic, like breaking down the walls/gate, a general dying, etc., my game crashes, giving the error:

"Medieval 2 Total War has encountered an unknown error and will now close."

My install order was:

MTW2
Patch 1.2
Patch 1.3
Kingdoms
SS 5.0
SS 5.1

Has anyone else had this problem, or know of a solution? Thank you.

can't answer your problem but if you can let us know when the crash occurs:
when cut-scene loads / during play of cut-scene / after cut-scene it may help the debuggers here.

also graphix card and drivers as these can sometimes cause problems.

can you post the previous few lines of the system log just before the unspecified crash to see if there's a problem there.

and let us know which directory the game is installed in.
