    Default campaign map going slow

    The campaign map is going slow after 250bc.

    Usually the first turn after reloading the game runs fine, but after I hit the end turn button the figures on the map (like ships in trade lines for example) starts to move slowly in the next turn. The mouse pointer also moves slowly.

    I changed the textures but it dont worked. Also searched for some script that might be interfering with the game, but I found none.

    What are the requirements for running this mod? What CPU is needed? My CPU is 2.8ghz. The GPU is 500mhz. Im overcloked the GPU to 533mhz but the problem persists. Any suggestions?

    If I'm not mistaken this problem has to do with your RAM. I would suggest saving the campaign and reloading it. (This is a temporary solution, ofcourse.. til your memory is at its limit again).

    I had the same problem when I had 512mb ram, but with 1024 I can hold on to campaigns much longer without reloading my save game .

    Ofcourse this is only relevant if this happens in more campaigns than just this one...

    That can be a memory issue...indeed. RTW is a memory hog all by itself. Also, if you have ANY version of Symantec Anti-virus, get rid of it. Use AVG anti-virus or something else that doesn't require your whole processor to run it.

    Could also be an overheating video card. Make sure the fan is working, and that it is clean of dust and debris.

    I have 1024mb of RAM. The videocard is running fine, and its fan is clean since its a new card. I dont use norton, I use avast, and sometimes I deactivate the on-access protection to play games.
    I think that the map in Roma Surrectum is very big and theres too much units on it, even with the 1 turn recruitment activated. I remember that, back in 2006, I was playing with Mundus Magnus and the map also started to go slow after some turns. Anyway, thanks for the replies.

    I recently started playing this and noticed that my mouse was very slugish and inacurate at times. It only does this after I load the game. In the title screens every thing is fine. I have 4gb ram and tons of disc space. Any ideas?

    This might sound kinda silly, but do you perhaps have the widescreen option enabled in the video options panel? (I noticed some strange and innconsistant problems with my mouse and slowness on the campaign map when I had this option enabled, even though I have a wodescreen.)

    Try clicking on a unit or character and moving it a short distance, sounds nuts but when I get map lag it sorts it out. I think it may have something to do with the size of the map and telling a character or unit to move over a very large distance....worth a try.

    i kind of have a similar problem but it not after a certain year, its after a certain time. like 20 min or so into the game it starts slowing down, including the battle loading and such. is it because of the reasons stated above that this is happening?

    Many things will cause this as dvk said. Check this out for starters;

    I close everything except Fraps when going in game, even kill my internet connection. Other things that may affect your game speed are unit sizes and your settings ( video ). Nvidia in the control panel, lets you set for performance to quality, so do both to see if you get an improvement.
