Switching from Lands To Conquer?

Hi all,

I'm a long time fan and player of Lusted's excellent LTC mod... and I'm looking for something fresh to rekindle my MTW2 fever.

In short: Will Stainless Steel appeal to me? Any other people here who can compare the two mods and found the changeover worthwile? I think I'll like the larger map and faction/unit variety but I'm not sure about the balancing (hopefully) achieved in SS. I liked LTC because it made very small, carefully considered changes... what do you guys think?

Well perssonaly I have both.

SS is most notorius for the large ammount of new units and Factions and for implementing lots of Mods in it, it's an amazing MOD in variety and in combining the best the community offers.

LTC is a Master Piece, with a lot less units and less Factions but where everything was made extremely carefully and with lots of attention to detail.

More or less like choosing to drive a Lamborghini (SS) or a Rolls Royce (LTC), you tell me the one you prefer, perssonaly I like both and I'm waiting with a lot of antecipation for Broken Crescent too.

In terms of balancing I think LTC does a better job but than again you don't have the ammount of units you have in SS so... .

I used to be a big fan of LTC until I finally investigated all of the hype about SS. I've made a 100% changeover. I didn't feel a need to keep playing my LTC campaigns, I simply love the faction variety and extra settlements offered by SS. Also, the additional units are fantastic. Also, SS uses Lusted's latest and greatest AI, which was a major attraction of mine towards LTC. If I were you I'd install it as it doesn't replace or affect anything in the LTC folder and you can see for yourself if you like the new additions.

One big warning though, if you don't like the Supply traits or permanent arrows they can very easily be removed, don't be discouraged from SS just because of those. On the other hand, those may be things that make you love the mod even more! Now stop reading and get downloading!

Do the battles play the same between the two? The issue of "balancing" was mentioned. I grew tired of the changes to cavalry post SS 3.2 and am hoping 5.1 (or .2) will be like LTC.

I cut my M2TW teeth on LTC and I concur it's an extremely slick and relatively bug free mod that has had tons of thought put into it.
SS is great fun to play , looks stunning, incorporates much material of the best modders out there anyway including Lusted's masterwork AI among others. Give it a go!
Every faction seems to have a different path. Strengths and weaknesses really come into play.
