I am not a real modder but i do sometimes make some minor changes to more accomendate my playing style and therefore i noticed when looking at the edu & modeldb files for Stainless Steel some wierd things.
Some units seem to use other unit/factions 'soldier' setting in the EDU while there is a perfectly ok entry in the modeldb for them.
f.e. the mercenary Armenian Infantry have as entry:
soldier Dismounted_Huscarls, 48, 0, 1
Meaning I believe they will use the Dismounted_Huscarls entry in the modelsdb for their apearance etc, while at the same time there is already an entry for them in the modelsdb:
17 armenian_infantry

54 unit_models/_Units/ES_Mail/armenian_infantry_lod0.mesh 121
54 unit_models/_Units/ES_Mail/armenian_infantry_lod1.mesh 1225

16 -0.090000004 0 0 -0.34999999 0.80000001 0.60000002
There are a lot more of these examples (f.e. Archontopoulai, Muire , Cliathairi, Saethwyr etc. etc..)
Are these animations chosen to balance the units in SS ?
Another question which files in the modeldb govern the 'captain appearances' ?
This because i noticed playing as Knight Templar in SS that whenever a mercenary unit is the 'general unit' in a battle the captian will show up as a 'silver'ghost. However whenever a non mercenary unit (every unit i can recruit normally in a city or castle) is the general then they show up correclty on the battle
