Crazy advisor, Goofy Generals

Is anyone annoyed with that neurotic guy that yells stuff in the midst of battle?
You know, the guy that yells stuff like "My lord, we're under attack, we have to act NOW!" while your men are fighting their arses off?
Or when he yells, "MY LORD! Our men have taken the castle!!"
followed instantly by, "MY LORD! Our men have lost control of the castle!,
followed by, "MY LORD! Our men have gained control of the castle!!"

The guy is worse than a nagging old lady.
And if that weren't crazy enough, last night while playing as Spain,
my General was making a pre-battle morale speech and I heard him call the enemy ass whistles and ass monkeys.

Anyway, I apoligize if this has been asked before, but is there any way to turn the annoying military advisor off?

When starting a campaign, change the option on the left to "Advice off" or "No advice." You can't change during a campaing I think.

I don't think this can be turned off, as my campaigns are usually done without advice being taken and I get the same thing.

For example, If your married and you drive your car with your wife as a passenager you will know exactly what I mean.

Advice doesn't effect the good hearted man informing you about the progression of your strategies. Funniest thing that ever happened to me, I sent a gov to supress a rebel uprising with a decent force. Trying to score some chiv I was mildly outnumbered. Anyway, battle begins and just before we engage, my general is slain in a hail of arrows. Really. As I watched my general go down and the Scilican banners start going white, i heard the 'my lord, we're under attack' It made it somewhat worthwhile.

Hmm the battle shouting guy has never really annoyed me in all my 2 years of total war playing, but I have heard him shout stupid things like "Lord we are winning the battle" when I have lost 67% of my army and only a midgety group of peasent archers arnt routing.

I know there is a mod somewhere that turns it off, but I don't know where...

Ahh, these glitches and annoying features are what makes the game. I love hearing the soldiers shout 'We're under attack!!!' when they get hit by arrows, as if no one else noticed, but even more so when an enemy charge smashes right into them and someone manages to find the time to scream wildly 'We're under attack!!!' just before he gets ridden into the ground by a flailing stallion. Good times.

Repeatedly losing and gaining the castle can be useful in different circumstances -- defending, it means that they have to wipe you out before they win, usually, but when attacking it means the same, usually giving your general butcherer-like traits and generally making him a horrible person. Yay.

Although it is truly annoying, at times it has been useful to be informed that I no longer control the gate, because I don't constantly check this.

Ive never heard him say "lord we are winning the battle" and no before you say it i dont always lose

Seems people say "we are under attack" as soon as casualties are taken

i miss the old days in rome when the general just launched into his well prepared, well executed speech straight away, unlike in med2:TW where u hafta wait til the camera's on the general b4 he speaks, and even then it's a short 3 sentence speech!
i dont mind the 'my lord' things, it jsut keeps me up to date where i am.
but that idiot sir robert (?) telling me about not destroying too much of a settlement cuz it can still be destroyed in the campaign map really irks me
