    Default Win conditions?

How does the game work this out?

Spain had just won due it having conquered 'most of the known world'. That amounts to 21 regions is Spain, Portugal and North Africa. There's a lot more of it out there, guys.
England (me) has 20 regions and beats Spain on every category in the summary, including TERRITORY!

    Is this a fix?

The short campaign victory conditions for spain are to conquer 15 provinces and eliminate Portugal and Moors. Obviously they achieved that and won the game. You can still continue to play the game as long as you like.
    You lost, but who cares?

They may have achieved 'their' ambitions but they're still not as good as the Brits! Conquered most of the known world, my @rse!

oh shizzy, I had no idea they could win the game before me.

I usually try to help some other faction become a big, bad ass entity so that we can have an epic war at the end. The fact that they have their own victory conditions means that if i help them too much, they could claim victory.

    This... changes everything.

Typically only a problem in the short campaign. For long campaign, just don't let them get to 45 territories.

@ Sherbs --> This happened to me once in RTW, I continued playing and the game automatically converted to long campaign. I won by the long campaign rules. Hopefully you can do the same in M2TW.

There is a cure for this. Besides conquering a certain number of provinces, each faction has to eliminate usually two other factions in order to win. Since you know which are those factions, you can help one of them to survive, even if it means relocating them to a safer place.

The AI got 21 provinces in a short campaign! Wow, I am amazed; an AI blitz. It would be worth losing just to see it.

So we must know what these victory conditions are then.

Are they the same as what we would have to achieve if playing that particular faction ? :hmmm:
