    Icon3 Monastica 0.1 (WIP)

    Dear all,
    I would like to annouce the mini-mod Monastica that is going to be compatible with every GC mod that runs with Kingdoms.exe and uses a big map.

    The concept is the placing in the stratmap of the 100 most significant monasteries (bluntly 40 for each christian dogma + 10 islam (hopefully) and about 10 pagan). The monasteries can be owned, give 2 unit free upkeep and a nice concept of protection with light stone wall around them. They will also appear in the Battlemap with unique signs of name for them and they shall be siegable. They will radically increase the piety of the family members inside them and give a nice roleplay element when you put your springster princesses inside.
    Some pics shall be posted by the end of the week.

    Haha Nice I would love to see something like that, and what's cool is it's compatible with mods. +rep

    Wowww, that is pretty cool!!!

    Hope you get it to work! And if you do, maybe you can make it work for the original grand campaign as well. I like Kingdoms, but at the end of the day, I'd rather conquer the world!

    Do these monasteries need to be maintained? Or do they work like the forts in the Brittanica campaign (which would be fine)?

    Dear all,
    I am sorry for leaving this thread but I must admit I was a bit disappointed since I had only one comment for about ten days and left this wip thread unsupported.
    Also I was almost convince that I am the only one who cared to see monasteries incarnated in the campaign map.
    Now that I see that some others care, I feel it's right to inform you about it:

    So,
    a. The monasteries are going to use a unique model in the campaign map.
    b. Two dowloads will be available: the one will use the BigMap coordinates and the second the regular campaign map.
    c. I have completed my work and I have an eye in two mods I am waiting to play in order to request permission for an additional monastery add on. The first is the new Sicilian Vespers and the second the DarthAges Mod that uses BigMap as re-designed for TLR. I watch closely these two mods and asa one of them comes out, my mini-mod is going to follow right after.
    d. The most difficult part is to make monasteries unique and defendable (especially with pathfinding). This is what I will betatest the 10 first days of the new year. I am now on a leave and when I am on leave I am on a leave. I hope to resume work after Xmas.

    For now I have my wife screaming that the presents we bought have no names on the packs and it's possible my mother-in-law gets a dildo instead of a goldfish. (hope dildos can swim)

    @Matz: they are meant to be for the main campaign just using kingdoms.exe. Since it's just a matter of mapping and tiling, transportation to m2tw.exe isn't a big deal.

    @Icefrisco: Piety is Piety for all religions, even the ones we add beyond Orthodoxy, Catholicism, Islam, Pagan etc. It can work with everything since it's a scripting thing. You should imagine a script like this: "IfCharacter in fort and religionIs Catholic andPiety<6 then add +2piety" if he is of the same religion. -2piety.

    @Averroes: This mini-mod goes mostly for campaigns where America is banned. Thus, I have the aztec fort slot free. The .tga can be easily replaced and of course the battle map done by battle editor. I use the medium monasteries building surrounded by a great wooden wall. Of course graveyards and stuff are added by the battle editor.

    Sometimes it's hard to keep what with everything happening in the Kingdoms mod world ;-)

    Oh yeah, glad this is being made. Will it be also for Stainless Steel?, Whatever the answer, I'm glad it's also being made for Sicilian Vesters. Thanks.
