Default Hardly ANY Late era units for Kingdom of Jerusalem and Knights templar!

    Hey folks,

Playing a custom battle both as the KoJ & The Knights Templar I found hardly any units to recruit from!

I found a unit which bore a Cross on wheels!
    What the hell? Completely ridiculous.

Please King Kong and SS team: Fix This for the next version/patch whatever!

Well there is no SS team, it's just King Kong. The Templar are a early faction with an early era style of units. Most of the units you can get during anytime of the game. They do have some later styled units like Templar guard and they have a limited roster of gunpowder units. Same goes for KoJ, they are a faction created for kingdoms expansion and are set in that crusader style theme in which there roster is modeled after.

Did you change the era to late era for the custom battle? The default is early era and the roster that comes with it is little, you'll have to change it to late era for the whole list to show.

    Why is that?

The templars were destroyed by the king of France around the early 1300's so there is nothing to go on as far as late units go and the Kingfom of Jerusalem was destroyed by the Muslims in the 1200's(Jerusalem itself fell in 1187 to Saladin).

You could always build your own zombie templar sargents if its that important to you. The rest of us tend to think the KoJ/Templars have some of the toughest rosters already.

I don't think there is anyway to properly balance a unit of zombie sargents.
Being undead is a very big advantage. Exspecially if they are filled with the holy spirit. With an army like that the game would become way to easy.

Whole new meaning to suicide bomber.

Maybe if you evened it out with a possessed unit of some kind.

A whole undead mod. Let see what would we call it. Stainless Sternum... you know for the bones. No not quite. Deadmans Quest. Medieval Mummies!. I don't know?

I dont think they really need more late game units, they just need more units since both rosters are a bit small. Same goes for Ireland, Scotland, Novgorod and a few others though.

Maybe the templars and the kingdom of jerusalem could get some mercenary copies in their armies? sort of like the pisan and geonese sailors of jerusalem.

I'm currently playing a campaign as the Templars. I too wanted more units to choose from. So, I went crusading and got some Hospitalier knights. Now I have more units to choose from.

    Hi K.K.,

I just chose Late Era for the KoJ & the Knights Templar, not "All."
I like playing historically and not with different era units.

Very few units to choose from. It's a shame.

    High era is o.k.

Early then High then Late right?

P.S. Either way, I wish there were more units for them in the Late era.

    Hi hellas,

Maybe a silly question, but are you sure have chosen "All" in the era selection of custom battles?
Because I agree with most of the people that especially the Knights Templar have very powerful late era units....

They could both use some cheaper units of lower quality though. For variety.

    Hi Inhuman One,

I know that you like to have a wide variety of units for all factions and of course I always appreciate your suggestions
But, imo, those factions have actually two many different units since both factions are knightly orders and as far as I know they havn't had much variety in their "unit rosters", historically speaking. If this gane wouldn't have so many tiers of barracks, stables... I would even reduce their amount of units.
They had only a few different ranks for sergeants and knights and probably they looked all pretty similar on the battlefield. The main part of their armies were mercenaries...

To be fair, early era troops never really disappeared off the battlefield. They just weren't the top of the line troops.

I just got into a same trouble and was forced to choose "All" Eras...

Yeah, but setting the Era to "ALL" makes the game behave, like this is already a gunpowder age...

I think adding Mercenaries for Custom Battle rosters are the best idea... As Era battles are more fun that "all the pack" ones.

Not at all like banners in later ( or the roman legions eagle in earlier ) times these waggons transport the insignia of the troops - in this case the cross.
This was done in Italy, the HRE and propably other european countries.

I do know that the templars are a knightly order, but the kingdom of Jerusalem isnt, maybe they could get another spear unit? I find it a bit strange that they need to rely for 100% on the templars to provide them with spearmen.
