Foreign Diplomats

I think i have a small problem with foreing diplomats/princess, they keep trying to talk to me during Ai turn, but without opening the diplomacy window, i just see the animation (facing towards the city, handing the scroll) and thats it, they keep on doing that for several rounds in a row(on the same city) sometimes with more than one diplomat, it comes to this i have to watch more than 10 of them each round, which is a complete waste of time.
Any ideas how to fix it?

Assassinate them, bribe them or squash them (surround the diplomats from all sides and put an army on top of the diplomat.

A few things may be happening here. But more times than not this means your going to war with them in the next 10 turns. Most likely the diplomat is trying to bribe your city to join them. This is not good. Rid yourself of that damn diplomat.
