    Default Zweihander

do you guys ever use 'em? after the 1.2 patch they seem to have become useless. they die against everything you throw them at. maybe i'm using them wrong so any tips on how to use them are welcome

Any twohanders suck, it's an animation fault.

You should only use them for a powerful shock ambush attack. They do a lot of damage in a charge and are quite punishing on enemy troop morale if used in an ambush. You should back them up with powerful defensive infantry in the melee though: they tend to be weak in a fight. Rely on their strong charge.

I used them on my last campaign as the basic infantry unit of my armies. I'd have about 6 units of zweihanders for infantry and then 2 units of dismounted imperial for calvary. As long as you have a calvary flank, they can hold their own against most other infantry and in the siege battles they pulled their weight.

Use units with a high armor rating to hold the line and use hidden Zweihanders to charge from the rear. Works pretty good.

They are much better in Kingdoms, with decent defense and AP attack. As for vanilla, avoid using them in prolonged melee against heavy infantry, but rather charge already engaged troops.
