Install patch 1.5 (or if you hav BI 1.6) and install RTR Platinum.

Okay. So it installed now. But I get an error every time I try to run the game. "Generic error: could not read file 'data/descr_strategy_lighting.txt'." I checked the file, but have no idea what I'm looking for.

Hey, I think I figured it out. For future noobs, don't just gloss over the installation target folder. Hahaha.

Haha. Yes. It works now. And I have to say, I tried Europa Barbarorum a few months back. Total Realism is WAY, WAY better from what I've seen so far. The mechanics are similar enough to the original to allow some continuity. And it runs just as well as the original program -- which is key for me, because my computer dates to 2003 with very limited upgrades since..

Can you run an unmodded (vanilla) game ?

Check the version of the game you play, by running the game, clicking option and see what number is written on the top right corner of the screen.

Your original problem is caused by entries for RTW being in your Windows Registry. People use REGEDIT to remove them. Once that is done you should have no problem installing RTW 1.2.
