Am I right in thinking the difference between the two versions you link to is that one comes with BI and the other comes with ALX? If that is the case you should definately get the one that comes with BI. Its a better expansion and it also lets you get the full functionality out of this mod (and most other mods too), whereas ALX doesnt. Note: This mod does work with ALX but it wont have all of the features you would have with BI installed.

And with regards to the version of RTW that comes with those packs and whether they need patches, it wont matter. They'll likely be set to the latest version after you install the expansion disk and then XGM will work fine with it. And if they don't come to the latest version all you will need is to patch BI to 1.6 and you're good to go anyway.

So, in summary, both work with XGM but the BI version will work better than the ALX one.
