Last night I saw Shed Seven, with a mate, for a favor. Christ I have suffered.

I went to see Avril Lavigne with an old Ex.

I was forced to watch Yanni when I was 6 with my mother.

I saw Elliott Smith when he was drunk, once. I like him, but Elliott Smith + pre-gig binge drinking = suckage.

Can't say I've ever really had a bad gig. I suppose Battles weren't particularly inspiring as stage musicians, but when you're playing music as technically baffling and intricate as theirs, you've got good reason to be somewhat lacking in stage presence. I wouldn't have had a problem, but for some reason the NME scene kids were there and completely messing with the atmosphere. ****ing amazing musicianship still, but live, they've been messed about a bit by their exposure in popularist music magazines... I hate to sound elitist, but I hate it when 15 year olds get into decent music simply for its popularity... and still treat it like the rest of the crap out there.
