    Default Spies/Assassins V Dread

Okay I was under the impression that the use of assassins and spies would increase the dread of your faction leader.

In my current Spainish campaign I have used one assassin to take out an Islamic preacher sat outside Leon.

Result, increase in dread for the Heir not the Faction Leader. :hmmm:

    Can anyone explain please?????.

My only take on this is that the heir was present in Leon during the building of the Inn, the training of the assassin and the carrying out of his execution. Therefore seen that the order was carried out upon his request.

How odd...usually it is the faction leader that gets the dread, but I've had it happen too that the faction heir gets dread when he was present for the whole building/training/assassination

This is another good reason to save games a lot so that you can see if you can duplicate it or if the happening is random.

Every governor that trains an assassin will get dread, same for buildings inns/brothels and recruiting spies (although with a smaller chance).
If you want to get rid of a single imam, use the agent-squashing technique. Cut off the imam's escape routs with agents/armies of your own and move an army on top of him.

Although recruiting will taint the settlement govenor the actual USE of the assassin normaly affects the faction/leader. At least thats what Ive experienced
Hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can, where its going to hurt them the most..... and preferably when theyre not looking!

Does your faction leader have the StrategyChivalry trait (starts out at "chivalrous in rule" I think)? If he has a significant level in that trait, using an assassin a single time won't lower it to the point of getting dread instead of chivalry.

    Hi Guys,

Pwijnands - Yes the current faction leader has one thingy of Chivarly.

I was surprised thats all to see the governer of the settlement take a Dread hit on the turn that I used the assassin.

As soon as the assassin was trained I used him, so I suppose to be fair I couldn't say now if it was the "use of" or the "training of" the assassin that caused the dread to rise.

If the faction leader had lost his chivarly then I could understand that.

Mind you in previous campaigns the settlement where the spies/assassins are trained is usually unmanned (on governer). So I guess I wouldn't of seen this before.

Yeah, having a governor in a settlement with brothels (or higher) isn't a good idea if you want useful characters instead of mad, drunk and horny family members. It's one of the first things I mod out of my game.
