having trouble recruiting gunners

Im now england, but ive never been able to recruit gunners and im quite a long way innto the game now. Gunpowder has been discovered and i can get ribaults and bombards at London, but i havent had the option to build a building for gunners. I got an alchemists lab at edinburgh, but nothing there either. I only once got a city to recruit gunners and that was France when i captured Dijon from the milanese. So whats the buildings you need for gunners? And whats the route to get the buildings?:hmmm:

Gunners come from the Town Watch line of buildings. England gets its one and only gunner in the Army Barracks.

The barracks are expensive. If I am blizting I find that I can build a very powerful army for the cost of the upgrade need to get gunpowder units and would rather build economic improvements or armor upgrades for the troops. The location of the build is usually half the map away from where the battles are and it takes too long to ship the gunners to the battle. Better to be on hand with 10 men than absent with 10,000.

I think you get them from the city walls(like some militias)

IMO u can easily do without gunners anyway, the building costs are to expensive and take to much time to be worth it, cannons on the other hand are a must for me.
