Playing as Byzantium two full stacks vs two full stacks of Turks. I had 2.500 soldiers my ally Armenia around 2000 and Turks nearly 5000 as well. battle took nearly all my time limit and towards the end my system was grinding like crazy hehe...
3 full stacks vs a 5 stack mongol horde. took two hours.
To anyone who ever beat "Cloaked_Figure" At MTW:VI, I want a rematch!
i dont like playing with stacks, waiting for reinforcements and all that ****.
i had my biggest today. I, the english 789 v.s the danes 1039 + 235, over a bridge on the river. Just about fought them off, a really tough battle. id of been buggered if it wasnt for my longbowmen. they rally are england's greatest unit.
Does anyone else think this is a wind up post? biggest battle lol
But to answer the question1 stack of byzantines holed up in a fortress with 4 stacks of timurids attacking. Lovely battle, great to see so many forces. I took down a hell of a lot of the enemy (about 2 stacks?) but lost in the end :/
Hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can, where its going to hurt them the most..... and preferably when theyre not looking!
I made an armybuildup as Denmark where I expected the Mongols to arrive and assaulted them with a 3 stack army (1 Cavalry, 1 infantry/archer and 1 mercenary horse archer stack) when they appeared on the map
did not take 2 hours like Joker though. The mongols did not run and the Danish are not good in fleeing either, so the ensuing frontal assault of the Danish took a heavy toll within 20 minutes on both sides. Though I lost over 2000 men they lost more than 2/3 of their armies and were crippled beyond repair. The garrisons and armies in the russian steppes where able to beat them back easily afterwards.
Of course the next round of Mongols was not so easily beaten as I lacked the resources to sacrifice another 3 stack armybut the one that was sacrificed went down in a blaze of glory

That would've likely been in my previous campaign. I was allied with Spain but enemies with Portugal, and the year was about 1250, so Gunpowder was relatively unused. Portugal, for whatever ungodly reason, had a huge military compared to Spain. I send in about 1500 troops (Large Scale) to Spain to help them.
Fair enough, while our banners were holed up in a mountain valley, Portugal attacks with 2 full stacks. The battle was something like 4500 Portuguese vs 1500 English and 1000 Spanish. We lost, but damn, we took down nearly 4000 troops with us and placed a nice little monument of famous battles in Spain.![]()

Hmmm...
About 1800 of my danish vikings against roughly 4800 Timurids.
Battle wasn't exciting though. Damn ladder bug.

holy... your pikemen actually stayed with pikes without going swords??? with 3000 units going up vs your pikemen, even by pushing with unit mass, it would have been easy to disrupt your formation + forcing u to go swords in like 5 secs after contact.
Yeah I do get that happening, so to avoid it I kept 2 more lines of pikes behind the front line so that there would still be pikes sticking out even if the front line dropped them. If the front line of pikes disrupted then the second line of pikes would hold out and if they disrupted then the third would hold any that got passed the second line. Meanwhile my archers did some serious damage physically and mentally. Running straight into pikes is damaging to troops morale, having waves of arrows hitting them was the final straw and I managed to rout lots of them, giving the three pike lines some time to recover their formation before the next wave of troops struck. Since they attacked in waves I didn't have all of them hitting me at the same time or else the pike walls would've got owned!![]()
if you mod out the 2ndary sword weapons without lowering pike attack, they are overpowering. nothing beats an elite pike unit from the front, even elephants gets owned from my testsif you modded it like that, the game becomes trivial.
mine was Denmark (me) vs HRE and England. it was 1700 vs 3400 i believe. i won the battle but it did cost my prince :p

Mine took place while playing a Mongol campaign (yes, cheap, I know) with the Clouds Across Europe mod. I was attacked by two full stacks of Sicilians (numbering about 2300 forces together) at a bridge, sandwiched between both forces. My own forces numbered about ~1100.
It was amusing because one of the Sicilian armies was composed entirely of crossbowmen and catapults, which was easily dispatched by light cavalry, while the Mongolian archers made short work of the other more balanced Sicilian force. Ended up with a heroic victory for that one, I believe no more than 250-300 casualties sustained on my side.
It was a Multiplayer battle. I fought England, France, and the Papal States in a free for all as Milan and won. I First took out France while England and the Papacy fired at each other archer vs archer. England won the missle contest so I charged them and quickly defeated them. The Papacy sent horsemen to expose my flanks. I turned my pikemen around and destroyed their cavalry. Then I sent the pikemen to go and attack the Papacy's infantry with dismounted fuedal men following close behind. I sent my cavalry around both sides. From the front my infantry attacked with full force. From the left and right hind I sent my cavalry and massacred the Papacy!![]()
