Shariah law in Britain? There would be riots.

If shariah law is not barbaric show me a place where it has been implemented without human rights abuses. The sort of thing that would make wardens at guantanamo shudder.

The moderate Islams haven't learned how to isolate and shun the extreme element in Britain and I don't think they can.

It's still unislamic for a man to hand out punishment saying that "god wills it" or that "it is in the name of god". Law should be secular, it is an insult otherwise.

honor killings are not condoned by shariah law. zina or fornication is punished by 100 lashes not death

Mansa would you stop posting youtube links with no explanation? It's a waste of bandwidth. In fact, I think it might be against the rules.

Topic: No Sharia in Britain. One law system for all in the United Kingdom, how could anything else be just? No Sharia, not even for Muslims in their private, "family" life. We have enough "honour" killings already.

Jus, the latin word from which Justice comes, means right. He who submits entirely to God, has no rights, because he is a thing, and thus knows no justice.

Justice is for those who are friends with God, Who, in His infinite wisdom and intelligence, knows their limits and probes them with those in mind. Besides, to be friends with God, a man must not only submit to God, but be himself conscious of his own limits. The most consciousness, and the most humility, that is what God wants.

Yes they manage fine on the common law basis they inherited from colonialism (can't believe I am bringing a positive point to colonialism but there you go) and this has protected them from the major abuses that come with full Shariah law except in the notable cases like the one above though even that is mild by some countries Shariah standard.

That being said they are trying to work more harsh strict version of shariah law in all the time and trying to abolish common law.

Human rights abuse is common there, even more than the USA shockingly and it appears to be getting worse not better. If I was Malayan I would dread the chief justice getting any more influence.

Shariah means Law in Arabic. So Shariah Law is pretty much redundant isnt it?

"Feminists are silent when the bills arrive." -- Aetius

So these "honour" killings are not part of it?

Any negative side of Islam Mansa can find some group to blame for it. There is no reason to introduce Sharia to Britain, and it is the only way I could imagine violence against muslims being instigated in one of the most tolerant places on Earth.

It's quite simple really. Britain is supposed to be a democracy - one nation, one people, one law. If people want Shari'ah law, then they should start a political party that pushes for it. Once they get a majority in Parliament and a referendum of British subjects votes in a majority to introduce Shari'ah law for everyone, then we can all have it. Until then, we won't have it. In a democracy, you can't have one law for one section of society and another law for another section.

We are ultimately the heirs of the fine Greco-Roman political system, and I can tell you that ancient Athenian law-makers would be horrified at the suggestion that there be different laws for different people. I too am horrified at the suggestion, as it is fundamentally undemocratic.

Britain is far more influenced by Anglo-Saxon law, that is far more focused on equality, the individual rather than the state, and concepts such as habeus corpus and presumed innocence.

Mansa doesnt give sources. He expects us to believe all the .... that comes out of his mouth.

I wouldnt want to be judged by Shariah. In fact I dont want to be judged by any religious law. I dont care how oppressive a law is if its religious I dont want to be forced to obey it.

Sharia is in direct contradiction to the Western value of separation between church and state. The West has suffered enough religious wars to have figured out it is better to have a secular state. I would rather die fighting for my freedom than submit to any form of theocracy. And I don't think Western countries should tolerate Sharia enclaves any more than we should tolerate Christian fundamentalists trying to take over our schools and legal systems.
    Secularism or death!

There's already Sharia in France. There are muslim areas where French police do not tread.
