Remember when the Pope liberated the Muslims from Islamic rule?

I just had the most stupid crusade called against me. I am Egypt and have taken modern day Israel, now encroaching on Turkish lands. I was raking it in untill I started preparing from the Mongol Hordes. Still making about 1000k after construction. Anyway, due to Mongol paranoia I usually do everything I can to help myself, and I usually come off smelling like roses, Mongol corpses at my feet. All of a sudden, the Pope calls a crusade against Jerusalem. WITH A FULL ISLAMIC POPULATION. I'm not kidding, 100% Muslim in all the holy lands, Jeru, Anitoch, Bagdhad, Eddessa etc.

Next turn, half of Christendom joins the crusade! Not England or France or some other far away nation, but Hungary, Poland, Venice, HRE (who have expanded far more East then usual). Who is the Pope liberating here? I doubt their are many more benign factions than I right now. This sucks. This happen to anyone before?

When I played the Turks, the Pope called 3-4 crusade against Antioch, despite the fact that there was not a single Christian there.

sometimes the ai gets stuck in its own logic issues.. i have had jihads called against me by allied nations.. crusades against me when allied to the pope...

i think some of you put too much thoughts into religion and politics... its about the money you get from sacking. and as far as I (and the pope) know(s) 1kilo of muslim gold weigths the same that a catholic kilo of gold does

(which would be a nice feature to have multifaction crusader armies with the one requesting the crusade as the leader of the crusade directing the troops and paying off the pope with looted gold )

I also dont think that people were eager to get "liberated" back then. No matter by whom! Liberation was some dangerous **** back then as it is today.

besides that it is Jerusalem! I really liked the line they gave Salahadin in Kingdom of Heaven when asked what Jerusalem was worth he replied: "Jerusalem?! Nothing!..." then turning around and adding "... everything!"

just great, if its any comfort the imams are just as unlogic, i have had jihads called against frankfurt, london and toulouse who were 100% to 99% catolic at the time, (maybe the 1% of hertix could justify it) but when stacks of muslims are wandering around the alps it gets ridiculous imo

The AI is so very clever. The western factions want to fight the Mongols so they just join a crusade to get there fast and pay no upkeep for their crusading units which get experience and base to fight the Mongols from once they capture the crusade target. At least this is what I do and the AI is at least as clever as I am - it was programmed by geniuses!
