Because they would sink into depression and kill themselves at the sight of my banner, and the game wouldn't be as fun.

If they had feelings, what else would they have? The ability to change a a stratedgy halfway through a battle? Who knows? Where would it end!

If the AI had feelings we'd all be dead, our mouse and keyboard wires would have starngled us because we beat them so horribly.

If the AI had feelings, i would woo it into falling in love with me. I'd probably start by wooing the pope.

The pope would then force everyone else catholic to love me (as he tends to do), and I would have a sweet romantic love-fest with all catholic factions. They would give me 50% of their income and any lands they've conquered.

Then I would stop calling them and they would run to the Muslims for a rebound fling.

Then I'd go after the Aztecs. I hear they put out.

I'm can just imagine the Pope, just after evading an English assasination attempt, pulling a notebook out of his back pocket with a page entitled "Factions I Hate" and scrawling "England = n00bs" on it.
