    Hi, I really enjoy this "mod", and I'm on the year 237 with the Romans. It has been awesome so far, great job!!

    I'd like to give on eof my generals the night fighting ability, because so far, none of them have got it.

    Going into the descr_strat file like you described, I couldn't find any of my current characters (I think it's the initial starting conditions that the file describes). So how can I change the traits of my curent chraracters?

    Add the trait like this durng the game
    (console_command) give_trait "(NAME OF THE CHARACTER (for example ''maksimus'')'' NightBattleCapable 1

    For new campaign you should only add trait to your generals in descr_start.txt (but that would mean you need to start new campaign)..

    Hmm, I keep getting the "could not find trait in the database" error whenever I try to use give_trait to a character. I'm sure I'm typing in NightBattleCapable. I checked the export_descr_traits file, and there is a section under it about noctophilia and noctophobia...so it should work...

    Thanks aqd! I have not added that parameter! My current shortcut looks like:

    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\rometw-alx.exe" -mod:eb -show_err

    Do I just add it after the last part? In other words:

    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\rometw-alx.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -noalexander

    EDIT: I added it at the end and it works, thanks a million! I repped you and Maksimus for all the help :

    Maksimus: I tried it with NightBattleCapable 1, but still, the same error.

    What's wrong?

    EDIT (so I don't double post): If this is of any help: I also tried the give_ancillary command, using a chirurgeon, but it gives me pretty much the same error: Could not find ancillary in the database.

    The only thing you can try is give_trait ''Night_Fighter'' ? I will try it myself now and post

    edit: I got the problem with characters names.. since in the game Pontos has ''Ariarathes'' (for example) in the descr_start.txt it is ''Ariarathes Herakleotes'' so that might be a glich ... for me ''Ariarathes Herakleotes'' wont work... but I think that ''Night_Fighter'' is correct and I will try more later

    And this thread is not really for a mod (still we sometimes discuss it here - but dont tell EB team )

    This thread is about the ALX.exe AI (discussion) that makes EB run (vice versa proportion of your PC) at least 30% faster and the AI is ... well... 200% better (+ AI is retraining troops... you can just look at the main page and see ).. CTD are rare with this.. etc..

    The main page is really most important, if you have any specific qouestion maybe I could give better answer

    ALX EB is the reason this thread exists - it is just a transition way to play the best RTW mod (EB) using only ALX.exe (by that you don't even have to install full alexander game = you just need the ALX.exe in RTW folder)

    EAEM EB is ''Extensive ALX EB Mod'' (new features, units.. etc) and it is beta so I suggest you start with only ALX EB (vanilla EB with ALX.exe that most players use anyway) and then waith for the final EAEM beta mod (that is comming in a week I hope) or waith ''EAEM beta 2'' that will be done in couple of days

    note: EB Mod thread link is in my sig. so if you want some other questions about it you ask there please

    Alright I'm just making sure because I already started a Campaign In EB:ALX and I'm in 198 BC, so I didn't want to start a whole new game for EAEM, but then again I would like the new feature. So of course I will just wait and thanks for clarifying that with me.

    Hi Guys,

    I'm converting my late roman mod "Imperium Julianorum" for the ALEX.exe.

    I'm having similiar problems as with Metallus had. My shortcut includes the noalexander at the end of the shortcut as stipulated. I can only access the main campaign via the provincial one. It also wont help me play custom battles, nor load my actual provincial game.

    I am using a nocd exe file as I downloaded Alexander from the TotaWar website.

    Can anyone enlighten me on any of the above.

    You mod was originally made for BI right ? The it's possible the descr_strat file still have bi options written there like this (I took example from TIC)

    @Metallus -- fixed the issue... still, I can say this.
    1- It might be the problem with the vanilla default data install path. check it
    2- It might be the problem of the use of ALX.exe (*exe only) prob. check it
    3- It might be the patches issue - I had some tries to use ALX.exe without any patch and it worked for me but then again I only tried if the Custom battel works!

    I hope it helps a bit..
    You post if your prob is not solved I might help if you give some ''detailed'' prob description

    Thanks guys,

    I tried your suggestions, maksimus, I changed the file path to match the vanilla; no change, LestaT, I altered the strat_descr>txt file as you suggested; no change.

    I think that it may be the nocd ALX.exe file. I will hunt down a CD version and see if that fixes things.

    And yes IJ is a mod of BIV1.6.

    I my limited experience using the ALX.exe I have noticed better battles, the Sassanids actually try to outflank you, which is something a cavalry based army should do. Great.

    First time I encounter AI trying to outflank you, I was a little stunned. It felt like you are used to fight enemy almost in the same manner everytime, and suddenly the enemy came up with a new brilliant general and changed their stradegy and formation, and I was caught in a critical moment in the middle of the battle.
