well, just a few words from old rtw veteran ...
1. experience of units from the start - very improved battle reality, soldiers fight longer, and it's difficult to route them (especially when fighting ellite vs. ellite)
2. AI (composed with experience range) improved in battle and even little in campaign as I noticed
3. overall harder campaign, makes me think twice before go into bigger battles
so, I think EB on Alex is simply better then without it

i have read it
ou will need to install RTW that is 1.5 patched after which you either install Alexander add-on or use only its targeted *exe file
Install EB and fixes
In details:
1. Install Rome Total War + 1,3 and 1,5 patches.
2. Install Alexander expansion or extract the Alx.exe file only into your RTW folder.
3. Install EB 11 and EB 12.
4. EB fixes
a) To play EB with only improved engine you need use
5. ALX engine files.
b) If you want to play full modification you need to use
5. EAEM files.
5a. EAEM fixes.
6. Change the target line of EB.exe single player.

1. install rome
2. install 1.3 and 1.5 patch

4. download and install EB 1.1 then 1.2 then EB fixes wich all links are posted in the first page of this thread
5. download and install EAEM and fixes into RTW folder
6. run game from shortcut related to Alex.exe ("your game's path\ RomeTW-ALX.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -nm -noalexander)

Sorry to sound like a total noob on my 1st post ,but, do I have to do all this from the install guide if I want to play EAEB with all the fixes from 1.2 and the EA fixes? I just want to make sure I have it right.
STEP I:Edit 3 files
a) Go - ''Rome - Total War folder/eb/data/export_descr_character_traits.txt''
Open the file and add the Immortal description at the end of trait section! That should look like this:

e) Now - Copy chat_filter.san from your Alexander/data folder into your the EB\data folder!
These are the finall step's! You should add torches, lighting for night time, lighting to city buildings, and prebattle UI images (that is opional and not included in the download link)
1) To Add torches to the units:
Copy the following from your ’’bi \data\’’ folder to your ’’EB \data\folder’’
Like this:

2) Add lighting for night time
The BI weather and lighting settings look better for night battles than the in vanilla RTW. Copy the following files from ’’bi\data’’ to ’’eb\data\’’.
Like this:

’’bi\data\descr_daytypes.txt’’ to ’’eb\data\’’

The weather and lighting settings from Archer's SkyMod look even better. So If you have that mod -Copy the following files from ’’SKYMOD_BI\data’’ for ’’ Bi ’’ only to ’’eb\data\’’
The models folder!

3) Add prebattle UI images! (optional)
If you skip this step the engine will use a default image that looks as a day battle. All you need to do is put a suitable .TGA image called ’’ prebattle_night.tga’’ in every ’’data/UI/[culturetype]/eventpics/’’ folder.
A good image to use is bi/data/UI/roman/eventpics/prebattle_night.tga.
4) Add window lighting to city buildings!
Copy the folder ’’ bi\data\models_building\textures\glowing’’ to ’’eb\data\ models_building\textures’’

Hey guys, the link to download EAEM http://files.filefront.com/EAEMexe/;.../fileinfo.html doesn't seem to work, it just redirects me to the Filefront main page. How can I download it?
Seems that Filefront deleted it coz of the file size... so i need to upload again or find few more sources.. will take one day at least

Sorry to ask again, but I want to play the Extended EB on Alexander and the install instructions are not exactly very clear.
I have RTW and Alexander patched up fully.
I installed EB 1.1 and 1.2. EB 1.1 and 1.2 I extracted into my main RTW folder in Program Files/Activision/Rome Total War. During the process they asked me to also extract EBTrivialScript and EBDocumentation. I put those in folders in Program Files.
I then extracted the 3 Permanent Fixes files for 1.2 that I could find.
When an actual download link is available for EAEM.exe, I will install that also in my program files/activision/rome total war folder, and then also install the EAEM fixes there.

Ok, tried installing this once and was able to start the game, but then when I started a campaign it crashed. Here's what I did, tell me if I'm doing anything wrong.
1. Installed RTW
2. Installed 1.3 and 1.5 patches
3. Installed Alexander
4. Installed EB 1.1
5. Patched EB to 1.2
6. Extracted the edb, scriptfixes12_2, and sprites12 fixes for EB
7. Extracted the EB12_on_ALX files to the EB folder
8. Used your alxeb shortcut, pointed it at rometw-alx.exe
Why am I getting crashes?
