    Default AI cant handle TLR!

I must say, its a GREAT mod. It was really fun but there are afew things that really annoy me. I cant exactly narrow it down more than just bad AI. For example... in one of my games the strongest empire in the world (by far) was the syrian empire. A crusade ended up in them losing Jerusalem. Even though it was hardly an army and was almost depleted in the assault, hungary managed to hold Jerusalem for about 15 turns (which seems like forever in this mod, which isn't necessarily a bad thing btw). This caused their economy to decline immensely. Since syria was my ally i was very disappointed in them.

My current campaign is with sicily on vh/h. The main problem I see with this mod is that its just too easy. I honestly couldn't imagine losing a war against another faction. I think it would be very fun actually, to be beaten back. Imagine your playing as spain. You kick the moors out of spain and then conquer france. Then imagine the HRE attacks you when your weak from war and beats you back into your spainish homelands.

Its sounds intense but it simply doesn't happen. The AI lacks the ability to blitz and carry out intelligent assaults. I think the problem MIGHT be that the AI spends to much money on buildings instead of armies while in times of war. Anyone playing this mod knows that its suicide to invest money into buildings while at war.

Any suggestions on how wars could be more frantic and exciting? Possibly a script to increase military spending while at war? Also increasing AI's LoS would work wonders.

EDIT : I should probably add that im talking about the campaign mode only.

Ifyou have the Kingdoms expansion, try out Darth Ages. There's a thread here in the TLR forum and in the Darth Mods forum. Darth Ages updates TLR to Kingdoms and the much more robust Darth battle and AI. Instead of half stacks, you'll generally see several army stack or more for the AI which is also more agressive and better at defense as a result.

You can also try adapting one of the various AI mods out there; but it's a lot of work.

I must admit the AI does seem a little hesitant with military points, say there is half a stack in a besieged city, and my 2/3 of a stack outside, while the computer has another whole stock stood right next me, it simply allows me to take the city.

Since i don't want to mess about and ruin the AI, i make it so castles earn more money, so they have better defences, able to recruit better soldiers, but still they don't bother upgrading their cities or castles to larger settlements. After 90 turns they still have wooden forts and large towns and only theyr capitals are usually anything bigger. They don't seem to garrison places. They i set it up, castles and cities get a big boost in population growth and castles get a very handsome increase in funds, the computer has roughly 60,000 gold each yet they do nothing with it. They could build and support probably 7-10 full stacks of men from even as few provinces as 5, yet they don't. They don't even expand out to capture rebel settlements, well, only scotland and hre seem to.
i'll probably start making it so they start with fortresses and several full stacks with a large sum of money to make things more tricky. (i also increased happiness in settlements to prevent the computer losing what few settlements they had through low garrisons.)

Even so, i still really liked this mod btw... heh

Yes, there is Darthages and some related releases from Xeryx and Naimad on another thread. They are far superior to what was released by CA(no offense). Enjoy!
