No Americas?

Hey,
Well I have played SS now from maybe 4.0 through to 5.0 (haven't got to 5.1 yet) and I am yet to see any opportunity to exploit (I mean explore) the Americas? I have played several factions through to the mid 1400's and not once have I seen a prompt to explore the New World, or however it goes down.

Most recently as the English, I have fully optioned out Ports/Dry docks/Admiralty and a slew of Carracks, yet no trigger for an Explorers Guild? What am I doing wrong? Do I need a Nimitz Class Carrier or something to qualify for the whole Americas thing?

But what about the unfathomable wealth? I have heard some players getting up to 50,000 florins per turn from a single merchant! That would buy much needed arms and harness for my war of attrition in Europe.

i dont think there is any notification or anything, there isnt in vanilla. once you have carracks you can just sail out there, lower level ships have their movment restricted

Don't worry, I'm from America, and unlike the rest of my family, I haven't been sent to the assylum... yet.
But I keep getting letters in the mail from the government, asking me to go there.

If you can build carracks, then you are set to get to the new world. You should notice that there is now a huge area of blacked out map that you can scroll over. Once you get there you'll get a notification and a nice little movie.
