Favorite Faction in Stainless Steel (With Color-Coordinated Rankings!)

I had one of these a while back on the Yuku forums, and thought it was both enlightening and fun, so I thought I would do it again. It's quite simple:

1) You state your favorite three factions, from first to third. In the interests of simplicity, there shall be no ties.
1b) Discussing the relative merits of factions is allowed and encouraged. This is supposed to be fun, so have fun with it.
2) I periodically compile the results and post the rankings.
3) A first-place vote is worth 3 points, a second-place vote 2 points, and a third-place vote 1 point.
4) All standings will be color-coordinated according to faction.
5) Standings will take the format of: Faction: Total Points (First Place Votes, Second Place Votes, Third Place Votes).

P.S. If anybody knows how to change the background color of text, let me know. The alternating colors seem a bit distracting to me, and I usually put them as one color text on another color background, but that option seems not to be on these boards.

Out of all the factions I've played I really enjoyed these the most. I'm working on my Byzantine Empire campaign currently and It's so far my favorite faction.

They do, but I've never fully understood why (especially not in vanilla M2TW, when they weren't one of the better factions and didn't even get gunpowder). I think in this context, though, after enough votes are cast, they won't be in their usual spot. I think the novelty of the newer factions (like the Templars and Teutonic Knights) will give those the edge over the Byzantines despite the new Byzantine units.

I like the Byzantines because they have a very unique feel to them imo, as well as being a continuation of the Roman Empire. The KoJ is cool because it has the whole ''crusade'' feel to it, as well as feeling like you're fighting against everyone, not to mention it can feel like you're playing along to Kingdom of Heaven (if you like that movie). The Papal States might seem like a strange choice, but I like their combination of the Italian Militias (including Men at Arms), and the Papal & Swiss Guards, not to mention that anyone you attack is automatically excommunicated. The only downside to the Papal States is that it seems very difficult to call a crusade.

The Papal States shouldn't be allowed, since they aren't a playable faction (bar minor alterations, of course), but I have no qualms with tossing them in. They're definitely a very powerful faction in the hands of the player--which is probably why they're not allowed under normal circumstances.
