    Default Rest?

Well my highland nobles we're in combat after i killed the enemy army i waited in my castle so their other army will come(all of this has occurred in one battle)

i waited for like 5 minutes and they haven't regained stamina.
    is it even possible?

To be honest, I've never waited long enough to see them regain energy.

They do regenerate stamina - the easiest way to check this is as follows:
order your unit to run around until they get tire (as in they will lose one lvl of stamina) so if they go from for example tired to very tired order them to stop and you will see that in several seconds they will regain that level, although regaining one full level or more can take minutes (15-20 even)
Also remember that fighting in hot countries and deserts will prevent you from regaining stamina unless you are using special desert troops - all other especially armored ones will only lose more and more with time...

Oh, they regain stamina. It takes quite a while but they do. In long battles you can move tired troops back and send in fresh troops, then when they get tired send in the originals.

Fresh or even warmed up troops do much better than tired-exhausted troops.

yeah exhausted troops take aages to recoup, but tired troops dont need nearly as much of a break.

if you're concerned and you think the battle is gonna go for ages its best to withdraw troops before they get to exhausted. you can almost feel them run with lead feet..
