    Default Venice - lasting presence?

Have you ever seen Venice set up a lasting empire in the crusades campaign when not playing as the byzantines?

When playing as other factions i've seen the 'crusaders sack constantinople' event but never seen the Venetians set up an empire on the map.

Do they ever stick around or do they either get defeated or just sack and retreat?

they cant really hold any settlement since they start at an orthodox empire.

In my Antioch Campaign they had taken Constantinople and all of the provinces on the West and North coasts of Asia Minor before I boxed them in with my own expansion.

I'd like to see that happen, must make for an interesting campaign...

Yeah, because in reality they established the Latin Empire, which had a lasting affect on the Byzantine Empire.

Unlike in Kingdoms where they can barely manage to sack Constantinople...

Yeah it was pretty cool, it was unfortunate that I was playing as Antioch though. If I had been Jerusalem I could have seen the war unfold further (in my case I ended up buying their Asian cities off of them to avoid war).
