simple enough question, will you teach your kids reality whist nurturing the image of it i.e. teach them the truth of things as they need to know it sheltering them somewhat from its nastiness.

or will you teach them from a given agenda like religion, political persuasion and ethical standpoints.

personally i think children have to be moulded and have limits formed in their minds, this is what parenting is. but those indoctrinations should as i see it be formed of a universal truth. i will not ‘teach’ them to be anarchists, or Buddhists/druids etc, although i do hint at certain ideas contained therein. this is a secondary level of indoctrination that we must also be careful with, it is very difficult to get a balance sometimes as they have to learn from different perspectives without hopefully getting confused about it all.

they said that when i was young and to my fathers generation etc. i think kids generally are comparatively good these days. my kids actually want to go to school and go mad if i ask them to take a day off. people are very career driven and materialistic, whereas in the past we didnt care so much, probably becuase technology was crap back then.

I will tell them not to have sex when they are teens, because they will, but I will educate them on making smart and pragmatic choices, like that having a kid while you're young is not a good thing, not because somone says so, but because of how it can screw up your life).

I'd give them a sense of independence, freedom, and responsibility from an early age, and I'd always tell them reality for what it is. That means... yes, no ****ing Santa Clauses or tooth fairies. We can celebrate them, but I'll tell them the truth.

You'd have to ask them. Whether they marry or not is their own business, and they should not be judged on it. Personally if I were to have a child I'd likely get married or civil union..ed?. I'd agree that for the sake of the child it's best to be raised by two parents, one of each gender, in a stable environment that is more likely to be ensured by marriage/civil union than simply living together. Having a legally binding contract helps parents stick together, even if they don't love each other anymore.

The world was always immoral. Marriage is not a religious and traditional thing, at least now. Rather, it is more of an economic requirement with long-term couples.

Nonsense, the world has only been immoral since 1967 when feminism, homosexuality, rock and roll, and ethnic minorities gained widespread acceptance in the West. Before that (aside from those heathens who comprised most of the world's population but were conveniently ignored) we all lived in a harmonious Christian utopia.
