AI... Why oh why?
There is something i've noticed about this mod that really annoy me, both of them take place during battles.
The first is that when i'm assaulting a city or castle, i find my men are utter idiots. As soon as they have entered a gate into the settlement, they don't seem capable of moving very far. Say i had just assaulted a citadel
, as my men pass through the first gate i would have to order them to move to a new location barely inches away from their current position, only once they had arrived there would i then be able to order them to move further into the settlement.
So i am forced to move the men street by street, it takes close to half an hour to reach the first inner gate even if there are no enemy soldiers about. If i try to order my men to move further than roughly one street's distance they cancel the orders and just stand there.
Is there any way to stop this? Since my computer isn't brilliant but it can play the game ok, but on a large settlement where each side has 2000 men, ordering and waiting for my men to move in this fashion takes far too long!
My other problem is with cavalry. Say there was an enemy infantry unit with its back parallel to my cavalry, the perfect way to attack them is two form a long line only a few ranks deep to cause maximum possible casualties to them. So i set this up with 2-3 cavalry groups, then i order the attack.
Now this is where it really annoys me, my cavalry groups alter their formation to form a narrow column, so by the time they reach the enemy unit only 3-4 of my horsemen are in combat, the rest are just hanging about since their momentum has stopped completely.
Even if i give the orders to the three cavalry squads one at a time the same happens! Only time it works correctly is if i have say 1 cavalry squad in the field. In the usual scenario with one cavalry squad they would rout the enemy infantry, whereas with 2-3 squads the enemy infantry loses about 2 men from the cavalry charge and then fight back slaughtering my horsemen. Even if i recall my cavalry and charge again the same thing happens again and again.
I never experienced any of these problems with the original METW2 so i'm assuming they are related to this mod. I mean, i really do like this mod, far more fun to play then the original METW2, its just that these two constantly occurring problems are spoiling it somewhat for me.

Re: AI... Why oh why?
On the city/castle issue, I think this is probably due to the walls of the buildings on the streets blocking the width of your column. It slows down the AI and confuses it when your unit formation is wider than the street. The only way around it is to change your formation into a column which can fit on the street without bumping into buildings.
On the cavalry, I'm not sure what causes that.

Re: AI... Why oh why?
Hmm i don't think that is the problem with cities. In a citadel there is usually a moderately wide road reaching from one end of the castle to the other, i couldn't order a squad of infantry to match straight down there in whatever formation they pleased without having to stop numerous times. Even if one infantry unit was set in a column 3-4 men wide, they would still only move if ordered no further than a few inches, at most upto the next street junction.
Oddly enough artillery can move about the streets without much problem. So i don't understand why infantry and cavalry can't.

Re: AI... Why oh why?
Well, hopefully it is an AI problem which is fixed in Naimad's Darth Ages update for TLR to Darth combat and Kingdoms.
