Default Has anyone thought an extended total war = RTW + MTW2??

I post this here, cause it is not a mod, or a mod request, but only an idea...

I am an huge fan of RTW and i would love to see my ancient empire survive the test of time after barbarians invasion, the birth of modern religions and states.

In few words, an Extended total war... from 200 bc to 1500 ad... this is too much for a single game.. but we have 2 very similar games that could fit the timeline.

Example: play a campaign in RTW... Fixed year for end game. When you reach this date you EXPORT your savegame.
Now, a DYNAMIC mod for MTW2 (or an extern program), that build the same factions you played in rtw with same units and boundaries.. plus some events that triggers the birth of modern states from barbarians or from provinces revolts (Franks.. etc).

Maybe this is totally impossible to build, cause many things are hardcoded. I'm not a modder..

It's only an idea What do you think?

There was a medieval mod for RTW, maybe you could download that, then at a certain date have a trigger for the Medieval stuff to kick in. It would still be RTW, just with Medieval units (and anything else the author put in). Sorry, I don't know where the link is, but it was on the front page a efw weeks ago. Not sure if this would work either, but it's worth a shot.

So its sort of like the rise of Medieval Europe?

It does sound good, very good. If this mod was made and released I would play it.

It might even make more politic TWC members and Preachers.

I don't think such thing can be accomplished with any of the current TW games.

Maybe in the future CA will make such a thing possible, or maybe even do it themselves.

I like the idea but dread to think of the time we would have to wait to see it implemented. Sadly, I wish they were working on a Rome Total War 2 instead of Empire.

Great idea but with the current hard coded limits this could not happen.

geat idea just think of the victory conditions you would have more than 1000 turns, to win one campaing would take me a several months teching should be controled better than metwii so you wont be able to rush the barberians with gothic knights

Woo, that would be like awesome, but most people wouldnt end up playing like 1000 turns, cept well me maybe but intresing idea, I see alot of ahistorical faction emergings as well
within us all there is a flicker

we must turn it into a fire

Idea sounds good but dont think it is possible. Anyways Thorvald is right, I wish they were making Rome 2 instead of the Empie one...

it wouldnt really work - think about it, you would have to make it much much harder so that people wouldnt just win in the roman period and then call it a day. and if its that hard they it would presumably be difficult to get going. or you could have i suppose that winning one campaign triggers the next bit - ie having won rome the barbarians come in... but what if you are barbarians? or say egypt? then you get the whole culture thing - do you embrace christianity or not, and then later on is there a byzantine empire, and what would be the triggers for the modern countries to start appearing....
i think basically its just a bit too complicated to be realistically or well done

ok, you are right, that's pretty impossible
the total war engine is built for simulate real wars, the diplomatic and economic aspetcs of the game are not mature yet. The TW objectives are: ok, conquer the world, no matter of enemies or allies, simply mass your forces and strike everywhere
This is really unrealistic and unbalanced...
If CA will add more depth in economy and diplomacy in Empire Total War, along with higher modding possibilites, MAYBE this project (or a similar proj) will became realistic someday...

but hey, i will be totally addicted for a game like this!

Well the Roman Empire did survive well into the middle ages, if you want to play as the Byzantium’s your effectively playing as the ERE.

These games drag on far too long anyway. There just is no market for such a beast I fear. That's Civs market forte.
