    Default England-----A Trading Nation!

Would England make a great trading nation once the british isles are united?

I mean, you could then go about trading to your hearts content without worrying about wars (you're on an island)

and maybe even colonize while you're at it!

Though i haven't got this game, I'm just going to make a histroical note.

The British empire was a trading empire so hypotheticaly it should be good as one in this game.

Any Latin countries can be a super trading country once they have Shrewd Commerce Practices/National Trade Policy and not lacking behind their trading research.

Overall, trading is for mid and late game. A trading center that has less than 500 is not worth to send any merchant in.

The British Empire is good in EUIII more or less entirely because the AI isn't great at invading Islands in any sense

I always try to get a COT, if you are a trading nation and you colonize its a must.

So true. Civ, TW, EU, doesn't matter what it is, invasions over sea are a **** for AI. Even Gal Civ II doesn't do that good with planetary invasions.

    ok then!

lets discuss strategies for the british to grow rich trading, and even colonize a few lands here and there

(NOT the whole of north america, but rather an island here and there)

Well if you want to colonize a few islands go for the Carribean, or you could go for Brazil thats usually the best place to start a colony.

You then can either wait for a COT to come about by its self, which it will if the colonies get large enough, or use the island as a base for troops to invade the Aztecs. Nobody will really have access to that COT for a while if you are the first to explore it. So you can take it over completely, easily.

That is a good start for any nation, imo.

An alternative is to start colonizing the area by colombia and then go for the Inca. I prefer this route because it has better trade income.

That is a good strategy to jump start a colonial empire. Annexing or seizing native provinces is quick. However you will have to convert them eventually so make sure you have + missionary gain. You do get the trade benefits immediately though.

Actually, I would suggest just colonize and not thinking about attack anyone until 1700s. Normally for rich colonial country, I would use aggressive colonization; meaning you grab as many sea shore as you can, save those tropical and poor. Since colonies only become profitable once it becomes your core province, it is good to just get as many good lands as you can at beginning, then slowly colonize them later on.

For good targets, I would suggest go North America first (Virginia, Florida and Texas), then move to Central America (Panama, Colombia), Brazia (depends, if Portugal grab them then forget it), Cap (only good land in Africa), Spice Island. Blocking other countries by occupy provinces near sea first.

Edit: After get all the land you can try to expand to Asia; Philippine and northern part of Asia is good choice. Just remember avoid tropic regions. Oh, and only focus on Carribean once you occupy Cap and whole good lands in America.

I prefer to take control of those Islands at the southern tip of South America and use those as a springboard to get to the American/Canadian west coast, the income is great and the enemies you face will crumble!

then you can expand eastward into the heartland of hte US while landing on the East coast and taking the whole US/Canada or head south and take mexico to fight the Aztecs and Chichumecs

    Damn, forgot about that.

Well you could rush tech Navy, which you should be doing as England anyways.

You should go for the Bermuda, i'm sure you can get there and if you do that you should be fine.
