Default Things that've bugged me since release, and probably others aswell.

    1) What the crap does the command ranking of a general do if you fight the battle manually?

I remember in the original MTW two commandstars gave one valour.

Now, there's no visible affect. And you can't add command in custom battes to experiemnt with it.

    2) Ambushes; For some reason these are either completely borked somewhere in my files, or I have horrible luck.

I understand the generalprocess to be hiding an army somewhere that an enemy army is likely to walk by, and if they pass through your threatened space you might ambush them.

Nope. I just get a sound file reminding me the bugger is hiding. I'm always being ambushed by rebels I was unaware wwere in my provinces though.

    3) Cats LOVE attacking your mouse wire when you're in the middle of a heated battle.

    4) Men on horseback moving full tilt down hill can fire bows accurately while also moving faster than your guy on a bigger horse who's whole goal in life is to catch him, and without pulling any strange acrobatics, stick a spear in his arse.

    5) Generals are magnetic to catapult rocks, even when outside the normal range.

    6) assassinating enemy assassins to preserve the lives of your own nobility gives you high dread and kills any notion of havign a chivalrous faction leader.

Add your own! =p (Or help me with mine )

The lack of realism in battles, the 2 years/turn system, the lack of era-specific campaigns, the hardcoded armour upgrades, the lack of unit variety between factions of the same culture and the faction colours aplied to the units on the battlefield.

    50/50 odds of gaining chivalry/dread.
Getting chivalrous ruler with a dread general because you build a chapel.
The way troops fight with the new animations, troops with slow animations hardly hit anything in my games (I have a fully patched game).

Well I have heavilly modded game so I dont complain about most stuff but two things bug me most:
-cavalry charge grrrrrrrr, dont know where to start
and the one you mentioned already TheJoker:

    3) Cats LOVE attacking your mouse wire when you're in the middle of a heated battle. - happenes everytime I order my general to charge ;-)

    1. I Hate how short range missles (javelins, nafatuns etc) can't merely be lobbed over your men. It doesn't look that hard. Archers can do it. Hell, xbowmen can do it. Why not them?

    Things I love though.
    1. An enemy of mine who is losing badly offers peace. I accept and offer trade rights and $4000 for two of his coastal towns. The same turn he re-attacks and back to war, now two towns the wiser.

    things I hate are...
Not being able to choose my heir, which leaves me with people like crazy uncle Joe as king and how children cant rule like in Crusader Kings.

The way in the middle to late game factions have kinda migrated which often leaves Spain ruleing France while France rules Italy while Russia being displaced by Mongols rule Poland who now rule HRE!

How sometimes you tell your knights to charge with Lances and they end up useing swords and getting creamed.

When you tell some units to move to a settlement and the green line stretches all the way there without a break, then you move them and they end up outside the gates because they cant reach :/
Hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can, where its going to hurt them the most..... and preferably when theyre not looking!

    1) No preset movement orders i.e. do not run in a straight line everywhere, go round! At least give the ability to plot a way pointed route for the order of March.2) I want my archers to fire arrows at the general behind his archers, who are behind the infantry...they shoot at everything else first!3) Every time I go into battle mode my wife talks to me or asks me to do something around the house, she sits on the sofa and can see my PC screen. I believe she has concluded, correctly, that this is the best time to interrupt me and thus p*** me off. 4) No way to order a trespasser off your lands apart from cutting them to pieces.5) Ability to turn off missions, it’s ok to have the odd request to top someone come through or go on a crusade, but I will attack the rebels when I want to and I don’t care what you want me to do!6) In ability to pay someone off to stop attacking someone else. You can ask them to attack a faction but you can’t pay them off to stop. If your ally is fighting on another front he is less likely to help you.7) Bring back the ability of spies to see the enemies intentions, I se a stack near the border, but are they going for me or someone else?I can probably think of a lot more, but no need to go on, just yet!
There are two kinds of officers, sir: killin' officers and murderin' officers. Killin' officers are poor old buggers that get you killed by mistake.

Murderin' officers are mad, bad, old buggers that get you killed on purpose - for a country, for a religion, maybe even for a flag!

Yeah I hate that one too. Or if you see they can make it and when they move for some reason take another LONGER route.

for the cavalry charges, use darth mod, that change everything. With that mod , you will have real cavalry charges, where you can effectively see the enemy flying away.

Well, i don't have that much problems now with cavalry charges even with vanilla 1.3.
Baird: "Hey! Stop shooting it, you're pissing it off!"

Cole: "You're telling me what not to shoot in here? Look at this ****!"
    _____________
Carmine: "Landown? I heard there's a ****load of grubs down there..."

    Marcus: "More like 10 ****loads"
    _____________
Dom: "Marcus, ya ever seen them feed on imulsion?"

Marcus: "Hmph, they can eat **** and die for all I care..."

France wanted to get a ceasefire from me today. I wanted some settlements in return but I have no idea where each settlement is positioned. I ended up with a settlement that's three regions away from any other settlement. Completely landlocked and surrounded by other factions.
They should make the diplomacy window a bit smaller.

Time to reload the game to your last save, look at their regions and try again.

Sometimes I try that, it sucks. If you don't change a thing, you just look around a bit more, no cheats to see names or anything, the AI does something different. I was once offered to be a vassal. I thought, ok, these guys aren't so bad, i'll just take some settlements from them. So I reload to see what I want and when I end turn, they do nothing. It sucked.

It bugs me how hard it is to get a Templar Guild house. I currently have a general with the Crusader Title who took Jerusalem and has the Grand Master of the Knights Templar in his retinue! I have not built any brothels and have churches in each region I own. I even have a great relationship with the Pope. Turn after Turn I expect to see the Templar Guildhouse invite and get nothing.

Having high chivalry helps a lot when trying to get the Knights Templar. Only joining crusades will take a very long time, as the points you gather for guilds go away slowly over time and there are 10 turns or so in between crusades, not counting the time it takes for the crusade to complete.

    1) They should include an "attack move."
Where your men move and if they see an enemy coming near them, they immediately engage. Or at least stop to defend, instead of just keep marching and ignoring them.

"Uhm...sir, I see the enemy charging up at us."
"Shut yer trap and keep walking, the general didn't say anything about attacking anyone."

It's like they don't have a mind of their own...

    2) If a cavalry unit is charging right behind your men, shouldn't they turn around and brace themselves? Can't they hear all the charging horses?

    3) They should put in animations showing soldiers with shields actually trying to block arrows.

    4) Musketmen shouldn't wait for the whole unit to re-assemble to shoot. Especially when the enemy is either near them or engaging them.

    5) Smoother animations. I hate it when archers take so long to run back when an enemy cavalry unit charges up to them. Especially after shooting with their bows.

They have to aim, fire, stop, stand regularly, turn around, and then run. But by that time, I already lost a lot of archers from the enemy's horsemen.

    .
yeah that was a pain with the original vanilla... it seems to be a lot better after 1.2

also with cavalry charging... all you have to do is stop them, make them face the enemy they are going to charge and then send them off without changing their direction mid run. they will hit home nicely.

if you have them already on the run, or facing the other way and tell them to charge something they will get all mixed up and they'll run into each other, some will start a charge and realise they are alone and stop.. others will go all over. i can actually imagine this happening if the horses are already on the run and are forced to change direction... imagine someone stopping in the middle of a horse race.. they all fall over each other and make a hell of a mess.

i dont like clicking on a unit on the strat map... seeing where you want to go is in the green 'i can get there' area... clicking on the target and watching the army walk off in the complete opposite direction and the line of march go half way across the map.

Lack of a good unit cycle on the campaign map such as Civilization has.
