I need to know

I dont have a lot of money. But I really want MTW II and Kingdoms now.

I downloaded the demo. The one with the battles pavia, agincourt and such.

Extremely laggy(even on low quality which is horribly ugly).

I was like wtf. Rome TW runs perfectly on highest settings.

My computer Stats (I believe have system requirements)

Msoft XP
Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 @1.86 GHz(Dual Core)
1 GB of Ram
74.5 GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon Graphics processor AGP(0x4150)

So it is kind of near minimum but not really. The main thing is; does the real game have better performance than the demo?

I will be bummed if I cant get it...or even worse it lags when I buy it and no refund

PS: I will post a screenie later but in agincourt the English Flag is horrible like 10 pixels....is it supposed to be that way????

Well I have found out how to stop the FPS problem. Turn off shadows, yay.

But still......weird stuff happens.(Demo still)

When I zoom down soldiers tend to dissapppear. Strange black squares can happen when soldiers die. I think it may be my driver I will continue to check it out. Also the graphics are most definately not amazing...

Yeah the only problem is that the graphics suck and that units keep dissappearing and reappearing randomly. Very glitchy. Any help would be enormusely appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken, your graphics card is an ATi Radeon 9600 series. With all due respect, this is card is ancient. Don't expect M2TW to run on it smoothly with all video options turned on. And don't expect the complete game to run any better.

Ancient you say. OK, I have always thought a new video card was in order anyways. I have got it to run fairly smoothly now with shadows and grass disabled, but this is only a temporary solution.

Yeah even if you could get an old card like I used to have on my second machine (GF6800) the game runs very nice in med-high details.
There are several features you could disable in the graphics options to improve the performance but with new video card you should be ok!

I don't know your budget, but you might wanna get yourself a nVidia 8800GT, if your motherboard supports PCI Express. It's the most value for money at the moment.

For about $100-150 you could get really nice mid range cards (sufficient for MTW2) if you have twice that you can get a video card that will last you for longer...

Edit: Also regarding your question the game has better performance than the demo but I wouldnt count on more than 10% or so. If it is really slow in the demo dont expect too much of the full version...

I think theres a cd-rom and dvd-rom version. I'm not sure about the cd-rom but I definatly know theres a dvd-rom version.

Welcome to the world of M2TW

1. Uninstall it, use a regcleaner to wipe the registry clean.
2. Install M2TW. Again.
3. Play.
a. It works: try patching to 1.2. Continue to step 4.
b. It doesn't work: Go back to step 1.
4. Play.
a. It works with 1.2 installed: Try installing Kingdoms, if want you to. It patches the game to 1.3. Continue to step 5.
b. It doesn't work with 1.2 installed: Go back to step 1.
5. Play.
a. It works with Kingdoms/1.3: Are you sure? If so, continue to step 6.
b. It doesn't work with Kingdoms/1.3: Guess what? Yep, go back to step 1.
6. Have fun!

Follow these steps, and with a little luck, you'll come to step 6.

Got Kingdoms. It installed all the updates. And then I adjusted my video settings. Relatively few errors now. The game actually works really good if I just turn shadows off.
