I don't have Kingdoms. So I can not answer.
In 4.1 I like aragon and the biz.

At the moment Sicily since they are diverse and their norman knights remain norman when upgraded. I am not much of a fan of full plated knights.

Their diversity is great, they also have heavily armored infantry in the Broken Lances, they have quick sword and buckler men as a light late game unit, they have moorish archers which are quite good, and also the strong Italian Militia.

My is Denmark because there professional army of infantry and cavalry,and of course there location.

I love Sicily and their Norman Knights.
They started with a cool and safe position, so I can go on crusade and in the middle-east. It's quite fun.

Before, I liked to play France. But, it's a too big empire in the beginning (IMO).

Koj (for the location and for the challenge to survive among two islamic sultanates).

My fav is England as I allways make peace with France which lasts the whole period of the game, I then focus on Ireland and the rest of England and then with the great profits I establish a kingdom in the holy land! and a few island "refueling" stations on the way.

Yes I do something similar to you too.Empire on Island and big bucks with a lot of military freedom.

Yep, but its not much of a problem with the great island empire profits and the slight lead in navy advancements money buys. Also I agree with Landwalker about needing those reskins.

For everlasting peace playing as England an awesome opening move is marrying Robert to the French Princess while haveing your own Princess marry the HRE heir!

Republic of Novgorod looks awesome, but I find their location rather boring.

For me, the best is Venice - I love their late units and I like sailing around and establishing a trade/outpost empire around the Med and Black sea, ruled in a Machiavellian fashion.

Also, the inevitable Venice-Milan-Sicily-HRE-Papal State scrums are fun, especially if they happen late in the game.

Until I realised that arrows do virtually nothing to troops with chain or better in SS it was the golden horde.

KoJ because of its starting position/difficulty. Also being able to say "ITS MY HOLY LAND" at the start of each turn.
