    Icon5 Lost Audio Effects

Recently I made the switch to Windows Vista Ultimate 64 and decided to install Medieval 2 Total War. At first everything went smoothly, the game loaded and played with no problems, as did the Kingdoms Expansion, and Grandviz's Ultimate AI modification.

However yesterday I ran into a problem after installing the following "Kingdom's Grand Campaign Mod". I inadvertently installed the mod into my Medieval 2 directory instead of into its own sub-folder. As a result, certain files were overridden and I lost nearly all in game sound effects and music; including all "click" effects, "selection" effects, "main menu" music, and so on.

After un-installing the game, deleting the entire SEGA directory and re-installing the game I have had no luck in re-acquiring the missing audio. I can only assume that Medieval 2 installs additional components outside of its directory or that it the modification mentioned above somehow compromised certain audio settings directly.

Would anyone be able to tell me where the Audio/Video settings file for Medieval 2 is stored by default? And whether or not Medieval 2 does in fact install files to other directories like WINDOWS, or system32?

    Thanks,

    DD

This is a pretty odd problem indeed,
maybe the mod muted your game, if that is the case look into the .cfg file in question, under the Audio tab.

I've been having the same problem as DarthDisco, albeit I have windows vista 32 bit and I have the 0.5b for retrofit. I Also do not know what an audio tab is, where to find one, or how I can upgrade to the newest version.

In some Medieval2 mods, the sound files had to be copied into the mod folder. Could be the case here as the time/date/version numbers seem to matter if they are the right ones.

I would assume this is the case, but I still need to know what an audio tab is and where to find it.

And if anyone could e-mail me the sound folders or give me a link to upgrade to 3.0 it would be greatly appreciated.

Look in your data/sounds folder. Just copy them to your mod/data/sounds folder.

I patched from 0.5 to 3.0. There were no "select" sound effects for when you select armies, agents, factions, open scrolls, etc. I did the same and copied the sound folder, except whenever I started the game crashed and gives a generic unspecified error message. So i uninstalled. However, even more unfortunate is that the un-modded games don't work either. Could someone tell me what to do next?

    Necrothreading?
    And what is 4.1?

Sounds in mods need the two events files from data\sounds of the original game. Copy them into your mod folder into the same destination.
