Default Bang and off we go!

Anyone else think Scotland needs a bit more firepower..by the 17th Century the "Highland Charge" was a recognised phenomenum, one shot from musket then charge, this was used much earlier as well and can also be found elsewhere..Wales and Algeria spring to mind as do elements of the Ottoman empire.how about a mini mod to reflect this? Any takers/thoughts?

Well one could just add to the infantry's Charge Attack value for a start.

I don't think the AI would do this. Whats more, you said 1 shot before charging but the minimum ammo a missile unit must have is 2. So......yea. However, no harm giving it a try.

Scotland doesn't need any boost. Noble pikemen, noble archers, noble swords, and mortars. Good grief, what more do they need? Hire pavaise mercenaries and jinettes or cattalans if more is needed.

I agree they are powerful enough and if we start modding all the little things then the game will become really complex - dont get me wrong it would be a good thing to add a bit of depth to each faction to give them unique abilities etc but it is soooo damn hard to do...
And then if you only do it for one or two factions it doesnt realyl make much sense in my opinion.

I say we mod the Scotts so that all infantry can use stakes. No, not just because I've seen Breaveheart, but because historically, they used whatever was around and stakes were a big part of some of their battles. Hell, it'd render calvary completely useless in an offence against them. That would be interesting.

Also. Let's mod the Scotts so that they wear pants.

    Who's with me?

    Pants......PANTS.....This....IS.....MADNESS!

I think someone should mod stakes into the Scottish units. It would make them quite a bit stronger.

All you need to do to add stakes is change a line in their unit listing. Not sure exactly which one, but ask in the mod workshop and they can tell you.

in the late period of m2tw the scots did not use nearly as many muskets. if anything they were famed for their heavy canons and dutch style pike formations.. in this time period the highlanders were fighting with swords or being forced to abandon the schiltrom and take up pike formations with the royal militias.

the highland fire and charge would be more suited to the empires total war time period... the jacobite uprisings etc..

    disclaimer: imo.

but if you do want stakes in your formations... just add stakes to the line of attributes in the edu. but you have to make sure it doesnt clash with another attribute like spear wall.

you could also make a highland musket unit with a real slow rate of fire and high secondary attack with a sword and charge bonus. the AI probably wouldnt fire and charge, but you could.
