Namely, how exactly does one kill it? Seriously, I have been having a blast messing around with export_descr_unit, I've changed a lot of stuff, and it basically made it a brand new game for me. But, for the love of ALL THAT IS SACRED, how do I do away with this cursed wedge formation the Macedonian Companion Cavalry and General's Bodyguards stubbornly insist on using exclusively?

(yes, yes, I know: that's how they did it in real life...but I bet there were also moments when they went, "You know what? right now, at this particular moment, being in a wedge formation is really, really stupid. Make a square, or something.")

Dang...I'm stuck with a Macedonian general whose unit is always in wedge....lame. (I noticed that the normal Heteroi cavalry isn't stuck in wedge like the general, right after I posted the initial question...of course!)

It's very simple and not so simple, if you'll follow me.
It is specific to open battle and relies on the MacCav being in wedge.
Now, you can use ExRM 3.2 which leaves the problem out - I'm not sure how Quinn Innit achieved this but anyway.
Or you can go through the export_descr_unit and simply remove all the wedge formations from the units in question.

The problem with the wedge is that it is most effective against light infantry and cavalry, while it does not do what the wedge was supposed to historically, namely break IN to a formation, then explode outwards inside the enemy formation.
This is because RTW has real problems simulating "weight" of formations, relying instead on each man making an attack versus another man.
