    Default Next England manager

Thread title says it all. I suspect it'll be Martin O'Neil, but Harry Redkanpp is an outside chance or even the Chosen One, Jose himself

O'Neil ruled himself out pretty quickly afaik. As did Jose i think.

Phil Scollari has been approached I think.

As for O'Neill, I heard that he has said no in public while behind the scenes saying he'll take it if it's offered to him, but he won't ask

I really want Martin, he took Celtic and Leicester to the top, and he's doing well at Villa. He'd be a great choice.

If you like results, go with Capello. If you like nice football, go with someone else. If you want to get to competitions, don't go with English managers!

Why even sign McClaren for 4 years when he wasn't their first choice? 2 would have been better.
FA made a dumb move and it cost them some £.

Well at least there's no rush for the new manager job, take your time.

    Jose please.

Although I suspect that McClaren is really a Scottish nationalist and smartly desided to increase dissentment in England by sabotaging the English team and thereby increase support for Scottish independence. Those crafty Scots.

Leave Holloway alone. He should mould our youngsters fine. Martin himself said that he felt no connection to Leicester because he had the veterans to take on when he was here, but when he faced us with Villa (last year I think) Leicester was a team with a totally revamped team.

I know, its just the peak of my Leicester support was around 8 years old when O'Neill was there, when we were 3rd in the premiership for I don't know how long. Holloway will be fine, like you say

    Arsene Wenger.

By the way can someone coach a football club and national team at the same time like in Football Manager?

    Can they? - Yes.
    Will they? - No.
The demands on a manager in England are too great to combine it with the National job.
Also, Arsenal would not want to share Wenger with anyone else.
He is too important to us them.

No English Managers want the job - the only exceptions being Arry and maybe Curbs. Can't say I blame them after the flack McClaren got over the past two years or so!!! And it looks like no English managers are in the running either if Sir Dave Richards at the FA is to be believed. The only two I've heard put their name forwards is Capello and Van Gaal. There will be no ego's in the squad if one of those guys is around. Both have got excellent CV's and would get results with our national team. I'd fancy Van Gaal more as a manager as he'd grasp the English mentality more than Capello. But I wouldn't mind anyone of them personally considering where our national team is at the minute!!!

I know that when India got knocked out of the Cricket WC (different sport but hold with me) we fired our coach, and got Ravi Shastri to be our coach. Shastri wasn't a high profile coach, but he knew the game in and out, and he inspired the team to a few wins. Right now team India has a domestic coach(Lalchand Rajput)-not high profile-but someone who knows the Indian game well and has brought about quite a few victories for the national team.

So I agree with Platini, that at least initally England needs a domestic coach-or at least someone who is low profile and good at spotting talent to create a new squad.

We had someone like that a few years ago his name was Peter Taylor a very good coach with an eye for talent. Sadly English coaches don't seem to get the chances anymore every club wants a foreign manager; this has meant Peter Taylor has had to settle for a job managing lowly Stevenage.

Anyway as for the next England boss, I would love to either Raffer the Gaffer or Jose the special one. Either of them would make a great coach for England and I can the players getting right behind them.

Duo Gianluca Vialli and Alan Shearer. Both knows English football, both have respect from current players, Maybe just add Big Sam who will help them as a part timer to deal with tactical side of the game.
