Finances don't add up
SS 5.2 Early Campaign
Playing as the Turks
I'm having problems with my economy. It always seems that I'm losing money and hardly making any. I changed the turn counter to "1 year per turn" and I'm not sure if this has effected my finances. I have two powerful armies and my cites are generally garrisoned by militia spearmen. I construct a bit but I usually build things that improve my economy. Also, I have trade rights with just about every other faction. My castle to city ratio is very low. I'm not sure what it is, I have a feeling that something is not adding up. Does anyone know if the "1 turn per year" is screwing me over?
P.S. Is anyone else's "shooting circle" for horse archers not working?

Re: Finances don't add up
Well I can spot one problem right off the bat: You're playing on a version of SS that doesn't exist (since it's only up to 5.1).
As far as editing the years per turn, that should have no effect on it. I routinely play on two turns per year with no noticeable effect on my finances. Could you perhaps post a screenshot of your finance scroll for further evaluation?
Without said screenshot, however, I would hazard a guess that your cities aren't focusing on constructing trade buildings and other economic options (like agriculture). Such a problem is easy to run across early in the game, when you're trying to expand quickly into the rebel provinces, which might prompt you to built armies that are beyond your means to support (I do it all the time).
I've also noticed in my brief "starter games" as Novgorod and the Keivan Rus that the early game economy takes a while to get up and running, especially because settlements (at least in Russia) appear to grow rather slowly.
Cheers.
