One hole in historical accuracy of the game has been nagging me lately.
Where are all the bastards?
It was not at all uncommon for Medieval nobility to sire bastard children and then raise them to positions of power. One of the kings of England had a score of known bastards and countless others. Bastard children led campaigns and governed cities. All the things that family members do now.
I need that manpower.
What would it take to add bastards into the family tree? There could be a chance per turn for a bastard child to be added to the line (with lower piety, unmarried, and randy family members more likely than high piety ones to father bastards).
Bastards could be born with an "illegitimate" trait that would lower authority if they ever rose to the throne. And would have a wider range of genetic traits than their legitimate siblings due to their, uh, more random , er. You get the picture.
Is it possible?
