Is their a policy change on the death of a ruler?
I was wondering if individual AI nations undergo a change of policy when their ruler dies and a new king is crowned. Does the new AI ruler have an effect on the strategy of his country according to his personal Chivary/Dread & Piety levels?
For example: would a new pious king try to make peace in the war he inhereted with enemies of the same religion? Or would say a new king with terrible dread break previous alliances in the name of ambition?
If not is this possible to impliment? I notice the death of the pope brings in new changes in papal policy so maybe by some similer coding this could be possibile with kings...

Interesting question, Ive had it myself. I dont know but I drought it. Funny story: the faction heir of Aragon wanted me to assassinate their king whom I had established an alliance with and has lasted for 40 years and still continues today. Since I didn't want to deal with him when the king passed on I assassinated him instead.

I have often wondered the same thing.
If it isn't the case that policy changes then it should be. Perhaps based on a combination of the new king's character, the prevailing conditions and how the king died (perhaps no peace if the old king died at the hands of an enemy for example).
I know I can mod this without touching the campaign ai files, but would have to be sure it does not do it already in some subtle way or things could get messy.
