In need of Urgent Help! Ads, popups, porn...

I am using Norton Internet Security, and just recently, like three days ago, I have been getting many popups when going online, including pornography. I also am infected with Trojan.Vundo, I think thats what it is called....

Is there a way someone can help me? Preferably someone who is familiar with Norton Internet Security. Thanks.

Well...i have Kaspersky, and whenever i do a scan and it finds a trojan or something else, when the scan ends, it asks me if i want to heal\delete\annihilate it, doesn`t Norton do the same? Regarding those popups, what kind of web browser are you using?

Web Browser? I am using Internet Explorer. Not sure which version though. And yeah, my Norton does delete viruses in scans, but some viruses have managed to slip through, unfortunetly...

Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools\Pop-up Blocker\Pop-up Blocker Settings and change the filter level from Medium to High, if that doesn`t help, either get another web browser(http://www.opera.com/ or http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) or get a anti-spyware software(XoftSpySE does the job just right).As for the virus...get a better anti-virus software.

Then there is little you can do.. Try updating Norton and running a scan, getting firefox would stop the popups.

Or you could restore your system (if you have the option enabled).

If I was you I would disable my network connection or turn my modem of router, and run Adware, SpyBot Search and Destory and Norton (make sure all programs are up to date before turning of you internet connection), all on full scan, search every single file and leave no stone (in this case a file) unturned.

He never mention a second firewall. as I know it u should only have 1 installed. I had the same problem as you. all I did was googled for a solution and manually fixed it.

I never mentioned anything about a 2nd firewall........apart from a Hardware firewall (found on routers), you should only have one software firewall, if you have more then one you will find they will start to conflict. As for Norton I use to like it, but the last time I used it I found it took up far too much memory and it was unstable, although I always liked its firewall, very easy to mange and user friendly.

Norton is probably the worst software ever, get rid of it and use a combination of AVG, Spybot and ad-aware. Norton also uses up way to much resources.

I hate to disagree here, but Norton is a good firewall and a decent anti virus, it is also resource hog and just shouldn't be used on a gaming machine.

That aside, I have a hardware firewall, my wireless router, and a software firewall, Comodo, which is very good, recently updated, and free.

Grab spybot and ad-aware, disable your internet, boot into safe mode and run all your anti virus/spyware programs. Norton's forum might very well have information on that particular trojan if you have any trouble, which you shouldn't.

Trojan.Vundo is a component of an adware program that downloads and displays pop-up advertisements. It is known to be installed by visiting a Web site link contained in a spammed email.
