...does Stainless Steel 5.1 use any data from the folders...

E:\Medieval II Total War\mods\americas
E:\Medieval II Total War\mods\british_isles
E:\Medieval II Total War\mods\crusades
E:\Medieval II Total War\mods\teutonic

I bought the expansion just to be able to run the latest mods with the normal game, so I'm not really interested in these campaigns. Can I erase the folders and still be able to play Stainless Steel?

i believe SS don't use nothing from at least "americas" campaign for sure

but no, you have at least 3 to make SS 5.1 working, because this is using kingdoms.exe and kingdoms stuff !

It does, but the SS folder is over 2gb big on it's own so I wonder if all necessary files are in there...

My m2tw folder is currently 14gb big, just with the retail game, expansion, patch 1.2 and 1.3 and ss. Insane!

BTW: Who has chosen the abbreviation "SS" for stainless steel?

kingdoms .exe and the update for m2 that comes with it is probably all you need, kingdoms works like BI did as a mod for RTW, the kingdoms campaign folders are separate mods and game won't refer to them from another mod unless you've specifically managed to path something to them.

Run a search on the SS ( ) folder for british_isles and the other folder names to see if anything is pathed back to them to find textures etc. if not then you should be able to delete them without probs.

for easier experiment re-name the folders you want to delete and see if SS still works ok...

actually seems only need the kingdoms.exe and keep the mods folder on, the campaigns folders (americas,britannia,crusades) seems not be necessary ,i've rename them and SS works fine
