Default Does this mod affect performance

I've had my eye on this Stainless Steel for a little while and I've been wanting to try it out, but before I do I have a couple of questions:

    1. Does this mod cause any drops in performance? If I remember correctly previous incarnations of this mod have decreased my performance when I zoomed into my army.

    2. Are the blood decals still really overdone? One of the things that turned me off to previous incarnations of Stainless Steel is that whenever a guy got injured he went from shiny and new to completely drenched in bad looking red paint. Is blood still as excessive as it was?

    3. Does Stainless Steel overwrite all the old files so that I can only play the mod and not the original version?

    Many thanks!

    1) Not that I've noticed.

    2) No. In fact, some people have been complaining that they're now too underdone.

    3) Not that I know of. Stainless Steel data files are in a separate folder, so all of the originals should still be intact. I haven't tried playing the original stuff from the same root folder yet, though (I didn't know how the installation would work, so I copied my vanilla game folder first).

    Cheers.

Yes, I'm not sure exactly what causes them, but I get lower frame rates than I do when playing vanilla. It's not that significant though... my computer can manage with normal unit sizes.

its easy to solve it ...video settings, and reduce whatever you need to run better !

Yes, 5.0 and onward decrease performance on some pc's. This is due to the fact that KK installed unlimited arrows and increased dust and dirt effects.

Is there a way to turn these increased effects off so that they don't hinder performance?

Yes there is by modding it yourself or getting someone for you to do it.

as people have said there are soem things that decrease performence, but this can be fixed by changing settings and or modding the game

the blood seems fine in my oppinion, not overdoen anymore.

you can still run the game perfectly fine, i installed this mod before i even played kingdoms and it worked perfectly.

It increases the dust particle FX when marching so it will decrease performance.

deonmag: open descr_effects_impact.txt (or so) and remove the ";" in front of the lines "playtime" (or "play_time"). Sorry for being unprecise, but I am not at work right now and can't check the file personally now.

EDIT: The ";" in front of the line means, that the arrows will stay indefinitely. Remove them and the arrows will stay so many seconds, as the value next to "playtime" shows.
