Same here, playing the Brutii in Rome total war, though not with a mod. I destroyed Greece, Macedon, Carthage, Thrace and the Gauls. I would have destroyed the Seleucids, but my allies Pontus beat me to it. I'm at a stage where I will be breaking my alliances with the other Roman factions. The Marian Reforms have just kicked in and I don't want them to have good legions.
I'm playing as HRE. The empire slowly but steadily expanded in almost all directions, destroying Milan in the process. I also own a small real estate in the Holy land, result of a successful Crusade.
I'm currently fighting against Venice, Denmark and Egypt. There's also a state of war between the Empire and Hungarians, but the border has been peaceful for some time. I have strong long-term alliances with Poland, Sicily , Portugal and Papal states.
I'm trying to play a chivalrous game, and my goal is not rapid expansion, but building of my empire and maintaining good relations with my neighbors. And, ofc, punishing those who dare to attack me.
Holy Roman Empire, 1228 AD
When I picked up Mtw2 a short while ago, I started with the HRE first(been playing Spain and the Moors on the side too) but turned out HRE probably wasn't the best choice for a newbie and I got burnt by my neighbours and my "empire" is now 4 provinces in Europe(one of them,Durazzo, completely isolated and houses a pitiful population of about 1000 people) and Gaza(from a successful crusade) It's probably just a matter of time now when my kingdom falls..
My Reich has been the major superpower of the world for a while now, I'm slowly recovering from my own Great Depression after the plague ruined my economy. Bad timing too, in the midst of all the Russia declared war on the Empire, adding to my list of enemies (Hungary, England, France, Sicily, and the Byzantine Empire).
It won't matter though, the Mongols have tearing apart their country for some time now and it would be a miracle if they could muster up an army to fight me. I'm already preparing for the Mongols though, I plan to fund Halych (the extent of my border) as my next Citadel and then recruit an army of Reiters...as soon as I figure out how to make those damn things.
Check the sig.
It's been a really intense campaign, gotta get another AAR going soon.
btw how do i post my campaign map onto this post?
that aside, i'm playing med 2 as sicily now and loving it.
i'm biding my time, trying to get the papacy to go on a rampage thru central europe. the english and the krauts are at each others' throats
and the frogs are down to 2 provinces
i'll show u on the map
First, you have to create a screenshot of campaign map. To get an accurate map, you can open the console and type toggle_fow to reveal it (to avoid revealing enemy positions as well, you can scroll to a distant corner before doing it). You'll find your screenshot in the Medieval II Total War\tgas folder.
Then use your favorite image editor to cut the minimap out of a screenshot. For this purpose I use the Irfanview, picture viewer with some basic editing ability (using Photoshop for this task is a bit of a overkill).
The next step is uploading your picture to a image hosting website, like imageshack.
Finally, when posting, there is a button called Insert Image, where you can enter the link to your picture provided by the imageshack.

Exarch, if you are refering to a map I posted earlier on this thread, it is actually hosted by the imageshack. When you upload the picture, there's a link described as " Direct link to image". Enter this link when prompted, after clicking on the Insert image button.
Hope this helps
i'm playing as Scotland right now and i managed to conquer the island, the northern part of Denmark(oslo stockholm) and carribean in the new world, the game is very difficult right now because everyone hates me and raids the island exept my allies(papal-portugal).I can't say i am very satisfied with Scotland because exept the super heavy spear military units they don't have cavalry(ok it's natural) but most of all good shock troops(the highland nobles are mediocre),when i picked the scots i thought that they own the galloglaich troops! Also they don't use handguns
I'm playing vanilla as the Byzantines and maintaining my Empire from the Eastern Balkans to Armenia and fighting the Fatmid hordes and planning the reconquest of Sicily and southern Italy to help my Venetian friends fight the Sicilian armies
i'm playing a hotseat game with my partner.. she is venice and i am the byzantines. we have an alliance, but i seem to be taking the brunt of all the hard stuff... haviing just dealt to the mongols and facing the timurids... whereas she seems to have slowly absorbed most of italy and spain without many problems.
she usually follows a very diplomatic and reputable path, putting all her effort int her economy and avoiding war at all costs, whereas i tend to deliberately provoke the AI factions by taking territories i know are in their path of advance - giving me the moral high ground to destroy them when attacked. she always ends up with more $$ than me
the game has dragged on for a month or more as its spring and the beach has been taking up increased amounts of time...

IN PATROCINIVM SVB MARENOSTRUM
Holy Roman Empire. I was playing Spain, I conquered all of Iberia, France, Milan and England and was just about to knock off the Moors and Sicily but wanted to play a new faction so I do not get bored. Before that I was playing Sicily and took over the Moors, Egypt, Venice, Milan, Byzantine, much of the Turks, and the Mongols. Phew the Mongols were a good fight though. I lost the first several battles against them and then one of my generals was able to utterly defeat about 4,000 Mongols and got full command stars and never lost a battle. He hunted down every Mongol army one by one (sometimes three at once) and was able to defeat them every time. Mostly is was a combination of getting the high ground, peppering them with arrows and gunfire and then chasing them down with cavalry.
My best battle with Spain the past couple of days was while fighting in France, my general was surrounded about 2100 to 4500. Instead of being very strategic I just send all my cavalry against their weakest units, made them rout and eventually caused a mass rout. In that battle I killed 700 and captured over 3,000, and only lost 200. Luckily it was early in the game so they mostly had militia.
I started a new Denmark game and instead of going for Stockholm/Oslo/Hamburg, I decided to go for Inverness and conquer Scotland. I was thinking if I should do a nice trick to Scotland:
1) Take Edinburgh
2) Exterminate populace
3) Sell all buildings
4) Use my diplomat to ask for ceasefire and I give Edinburgh back
It would be cool to see how badly would their economy suffer as Edinburgh is a lot more important for them than Dublin.
none at the moment, but thinking about playing the turks, havent had a go of them yet.
any advice on the turks
Im playing as the Turks,I have every unit avaible to them ready to build
(but i miss the hashashims?are they in the Campaign?)
And i always do Armies of Jannisary HI and Musketeers and Archers with some 2 Cannons.
I have sucessfully recreated the Ottoman Empire,
also i took large parts of the steppe and Italy(with sicily). The Mongols had some territories which im about to take the last one of them,
And the Timurids just arrived.
Fended 2 Full stacks of them off at Baghdad but they are sieging it with another 2.
In Europe, the fronts are weird because Denmark is annoying me with half-stack armies sieging my full stack Towns.
Im at War with nearly all the Remaining Factions (Denmark,Poland,
HRE,Milan,England,France, and russia just declared war on me)
they have only little Provinces and are weirdly scattered, taking long time to destroy one Faction.
But Spain, the brave scots, Portugal and the Moors are at Peace with me.
EDIT:
Difficulty is H/H (I though the AI will get morale boost from VH,like in RTW,so i just leaved H)
I'm playing as the HRE at the moment. I've taken complete control of Europe. From Tripoli, up to Bern in Hungary, and Constantinople in the south. I also control Caesarea in the Middle-east. I was doing a crusade and saw that Caesarea was a citadel and so, after the crusade, I took it for my own.
Right now I'm getting all my cities/castles prepped for the Great Plague and waiting for the Timurid Invasion.
In my current I am playing as Papal states with sillican vespers mod. I spent around 60 turns sitting their, tryin to be Papal and watching what the computer fractions do, eventully my Pope died(he was a good one too), and Rome is in decline, I was allied with venice and they dragged me into a war with HRE. Thats about it, Im planning on takeing over the HRE Italian territory then Italy, with My new Venetian sleezebag Pope leading the way
