Yes, VH battle difficulty will unbalance the EB stats, resulting in certain unit being invincible.

You could try the hammer and anvil, that usually works well against any type of phalanx unit.

in vh, a militia phalanx can slaughter hetairoi... when the hetairoi charge the back.

i see, i didnt know that VH unbalanced the stats

i've tried hammer and anvil (2 units of iphikratous hoplites in front, xystophoroi hippeis by the back) and the guys reduced my units to a bloody pulp!

all the other units i've faced are challenging, but these gatai phalnx are super soldiers or something like that.

so, ill follow marcus publius advice and next camps will be set in H/M difficulty. but i'll try to finish this Kh camp as it is(i've advanced too much to discard it)

    thanks!

The AI get a moral bonus on H and VH right? How much? And is that the only kind of advantage they get?

    found a way.!

face the getai phalanx with my strongest phalanx unit (thorakitai hoplitai, or merc pezetaroi) and attack the enemy's back, not with cavalry(these guys eat horse flesh like a children eats candies), but with an elite heavy infantry (spartans, epilektoi hoplitai or general's bodyguard), after some casualties they rout. of course if my army has no elites, im doomed.

I don't know about morale bonuses, but IIRC A.I. units had +4 attack at H and +8 attack/+4 defence at VH. No other bonus for the A.I. are known (and it sure doesn't get any smarter at higher difficulties).

I don't see the point of playing on VH battle difficulty anyway... As for the Getai phalanx, my oppinio does not differ with what many before me suggested you to do. Hammer and anvil, mabe some javelin showers in the back after pinning them with spearmen, mabe use some flaming ammo as well to lower their morale, or you can just tacckle their back with elite hoplitai. God, I love it when I order hoplitai to charge the back of a phalangite unit while being in defence mode!

agree, but dont use cavalry, i think the getai's favourite food is horse (and horsemen)flesh...they destroy my cav units!

    yeah, thats absolutely sweet!

Mabe that's because of the battle difficulty you play on? In my KH campaign, my Hippeis Thessalikoi cream them from behind when I have them locked with Iphikratides/Pezhetairoi (Misthophoroi)

Always include a couple of units of "Flanking Soldiers" with your Phalanxes.

For instances, face the Getai Phalanxes with your Mak. Phalanxes. While you are doing that, flank heavy peltests or other assault infantry to attack them.

I know it is a basic principle to face phalanx, but it is crucial especially to Getai phalanxes.

Since cavarly is too expensive to operate, include as many flanking-eligible infantry as possible in your army
