LucasArts and BioWare Team Up Again
Knights of the Old Republic dev working on undisclosed "interactive entertainment product".

UK, October 30, 2007 - Rumours suggesting that BioWare could be working on a follow-up to Knights of the Old Republic have been circulating for some time. Today, there's a little more substance to the stories as LucasArts has announced it's teaming up with the KOTOR developer once again, on an undisclosed "interactive entertainment product".

LucasArts is remaining tight-lipped however, merely noting that the collaboration "will push the boundaries of the gaming market by utilising the strengths of both companies to deliver an innovative, high-quality experience". Specific details are set to be revealed at a future event.

Commenting on the collaboration, Jim Ward, president of LucasArts, noted both companies share a passion for developing compellng stories and characters. "Through our previous collaborations, we know that BioWare has an impressive ability to blend gripping stories with technological advancements, and we believe that our upcoming product will deliver an experience that will span the traditional boundaries of videogame entertainment," Ward explained.

Meanwhile, Greg Zeschuk, president of BioWare added, "The collaboration with LucasArts allows us to combine our passion for creating high quality and innovative experiences with those of a company dedicated to bringing only the finest games to market".

Well Bioware didnt make KOTOR2 they passed it off to Obsidian to actually create it probably safe to say they wont do that again. I still think any KOTOR related project is going to be more along the lines of MMORPG, SWG is all but dead so it would be a good move and the time line would be less constricting.

You will begin to notice this with video games. I have seen video games get progressivly worse over the years. With a few exceptions from time to time. However Kotor was so full of plot holes what could you expect from Kotor 2. And I know what to expect from Kotor 3. Nothing new save graphics and pointless powers that no one needs to beat the game.

I mean, I love the star wars universe, but ME has created its own interesting and complex universe to explore.

Well, you're right about ME creating a great new universe, but playing a game so much like KOTOR (aside from the combat) makes me want to actually play KOTOR. Nothing beats Star Wars, imo.

If KOTORIII was really made then I think it would be cool if:

The game would take place imediately after KOTORII

and

You are an entirely new character

and

Your party members could go from Revan to the Jedi Exile, Bastila, Carth, Canderous, etc...

This time you aren't either Revan or the Jedi Exile and you would see how their personalites and skills are, Revan would excel at droid reparing for instance and the Exile could be "all around" excellent jedi. Plus I think the that the meere thought of having an Unreal III like engine and in seeing and hearing the opinion and choices of characters such as Revan and the Exile would make this game a very interesting game, because until now you haven't experienced these characters in 3rd person.

Although KOTOR 2 was basically just KOTOR with a less interesting story, and less interesting planets (especially).... and less interesting characters. That's why I never finished it.
