Hey, I'm playing as Russia and I was wondering what units do you guys use to fight the Mongols/Timurids? Also what units do you use in regular armies?

Dude...

Dismounted Dvor archers, spearmen (militia or regular) and Dvor cavalry are probably your best bet.

In my Russia game I got owned by the Mongols in the early period since I only had Boyar Sons, Kazaks and Druzhina (wich are inferior to the beefy Mongol cavalry) but in the late period I battered them using the awesome Cossack musketeers and merc rocket launchers. I was better prepared for the Timurids and Frightened their elephants with my Dismounted Dvor archers and used dismounted boyar sons to defeat the infantry. I also made use of better missile cavalry such as Dvor and Cossack cavalry against the timurids. Also recruit LOADS of spearmen (not spear militia!) to take care of their cavalry.

You should use your boyar sons to kill off their elephants, it works very well, I think even better than your dvors

Use a variety of different units. Use spearmen and berdiche axemen to take down mongol cavalry (Spear Militia could be used but only to to fill up the ranks and use as cannonfodder), use Dvor Cavalry and Cossack Cavalry to kill the enemies from afar. It is quite difficult though, seeing as both mongols and russia are good at ranged cavalry
