    Default Tips for best units/faction?

    Hi,

i bought MedTW2 some month ago but hardly played it cause of the ****** campaing modus. Where is the fun when in a almost every siege the KI stops attacking when on the walls and the sleeping enemy units are killed one by one by the archers in the towers.
Its just really boring. I dont understand how this game was allowed to be selled cause its just not playable.
I wonder how they could make Rome TW such a great game and then making such bad work with MedII.
Some other thing that is dumb is that when cav crashed into inf it is a really unspectacular thing. Half of the cav stops before charging into man, some pull out swords instead of the lances, some just get stuck instead of really crushing the man. Compared to Rome this is just poorly done. No crushing action at all.

So i just searched out the game cause wanted to sell it, but I started to play some LAN games against my brother this week.
So the next strange thing i figured out that the statistics of a unit are completely nonsense. Whos wins and who looses unit vs unit is resolved by something else (maybe the price?) but not the statistic values of the unit.

So maybe someone can give me aa tip what are the 3 best inf/cav/arch/gunner units in the game? Not best looking or best in price at ****** campaing but just best in fighting.

    Time for an intervention!

    DON'T SELL YOUR GAME!

It sounds like you haven't patched your game to 1.2.

Look for the sticky topic on this forum and download the 1.2 patch. It'll solve a whole slew of issues you just complained about!

Few too many **** there, masking swearing is frowned upon i believe.

Time to chill a bit and realise its a game. Read through some of the other threads regarding unit comparisons, there are a lot of them at the moment especially a realy good knight comparison thread and about 3-4 inf comparison threads.

Also i agree the way some units charge isnt great but there are mods about and i'm sure someone could point you in the direction of one that addresses that particular problem.

All in all its a very good game, if you feel you are taking advantage of a poor AI perhaps modify your method of fighting to allow it to recover. ie if they are standing letting you shoot them maybe sally from a side gate and fight them man to man?
Hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can, where its going to hurt them the most..... and preferably when theyre not looking!

For M2TW (no Kingdoms, and in no particular order)

Infantry: Janissary Heavy Infantry; Venetian Heavy Infantry; Dismounted Conquistadores

Cavalry: Teutonic Knights; Knights Hospitalier; Gothic Knights

Archers: Scots Guard; Retinue Longbowmen; Genoese Crossbows; (Sherwood Archers are awesome, man-for-man; but the unit is half the size of a regular unit.)

    Gunners: No idea.

Most likely Janissary Musketeers, Cossack Musketeers, and possibly reg musketeers and Portuguese Arquebusiers

    Thanks for the unit tips.

I remember to probably have patched the game to 1.2 when i started campaign and still had the problem with the passive AI units. For sure I know to have read the Bug list and the problem with the passive AI already made the game too poor to play without encountering the other bugs like AI not using siege equipment and else...never had any of these heavy bugs in Rome even without patch.

Patching the game right now again, and give it a new try.
