I know it's based off of a video game, it might not be any good, but I'm pumped!
Woop, 47 finally gets some poontang.
Anyway, it seems to me to be a too gung-ho, all guns blazing kind of film. Doesn't mean I didn't get a boner from that trailer.
Don't worry, it'll be an ok film.
But to me it's just looks too "oorah" for my taste.
Quite against the grain of Hitman.
But at least it's not directed by Uwe Boll.
The "grain" of Hitman depends on the individual player's playing style.
Some like to go all stealthy, silent, wait-for-that-one-perfect-shot and all that like.![]()
Some, such as myself, like to blaze a trail of gunfire and blood, and kill every last NPC in the level.
So, I will definitely like this movie.
Looks like another Hollywood film. It'll be good for that sake, but not a good film about the more interesting storyline (twists and all,) and moral issues that the actual game brought up.

MacMillan doesn't compensate for variable humidity, wind speed and direction or the coriolis effect. Mother nature compensates for where Macmillan's crosshairs are.
Moral issues?
That must be a feature that wasn't in Hitman 1, 2 and Contracts. Maybe Blood Money had it, but I can't get that to work on my computer (readme says I probably need to update my DVD drivers to 32 bit - argh).
And 47 was always running across bimbos willing to put out. He simple was too cold and inhuman to succumb to feminine charms. i.e. he was cloned without testicles.
The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.

Moral issues in the story. The Hitman 1, 2 SA, and Contracts all had them. (If you notice the issues around cloning in 1, how the Hitman saves the Father of the Church in 2 SA, and how in Contracts he things about the hits he did somewhat contrite, and how he replays some of the missions placing himself in a better light.)
The final one dealt with the issues around cloning as well.
I agree with the feminine interest part. 47's a machine without that part of his psyche developed. David Bateson would have been a better actor.

For some reason, the actor who plays 47 looks a bit too young... =/
I don't know...
I think the actor looks okay, if a little bit young looking, but still acceptable. Why do so many people hate the choice of actor?
I too am looking forward to this movie.
I like the trailers. The plot of a skilled killer being hunted down by his powerful former employees is unoriginal and been done before but as long as the execution is good, this could still be a great little action movie.
I'm not surprised that the movie isn't about 47 being all sneaky and stealthy, they needed to escalate it eventually, especially since I consider the movie spanning an equal story arc as a single Hitman game and facing off with SWAT Teams was almost a given at the end of every Hitman game.
So I'm figuring, if they kept the blood and gore up and didn't tone it down as rumors suggested, this could actually be an enjoyable video game movie, a violent action flick with some of Hitman's elements thrown in to show the heritage and please the fans. I'm pretty sure I've seen him wearing a soldier's outfit in the movie, so the most recognizable part of the game should be present.
There is alot of stealth scenes included, its all balanced with the action scenes according to the script. Just watch the russian version of the trailer, lots of stealth.

Well it's hard to judge from trailers, but at least this one isn't relying on showing as many explosions as possible. It reinforces my opinion though that this could be a pretty good movie as far as video game adaptions are concerned.
I remember hearing a blurb that said an assassin develops a conscience after meeting a beautiful but damaged girl.
So I kind of expect this to throw feces all over the original concept.
He developed a conscience in the games(between 1 and 2). "Inspired by" is the phrase we want here.
Also: All you all who think all the loud gunfights suck. Pay more attention. In every gunfight but the first one in the hotel, every bit of noise and overly bloody violence(see arms dealer shootout) is part of a larger misdirection to get 47 closer to his mark. Once he really started going after the Russian president, the series of events leading up as the setup was damn brilliant as a scheme.
One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

I saw it:
Awesome.
The acting on the part of Olyphant wasn't inspirational, to say the least. Yes, there were a few cheesy lines here and there, but the action was brutal.
47 gets off a very "hitmanish" scene in a bath room at one point, and it was pretty cool, he also keeps his cool and doesn't get a smitten with the girl. Very enjoyable, if not extremely memorable.
Well its pretty much being ass raped by the critics, but at least they say its the best video game adaptation yet.

I just saw it...
The fact that the critics hated it doesn't surprise me one bit - like most video game to move adaptations the sole audience is supposed to be the population who are fans of the game.
I do have a few grips about it though: first off, like almost every critic has stated - the plot is muddled and blurry throughout, which doesnt help AT ALL. Secondly, they do little to give you any background info on 47, the agency, or even the whole concept of the clones (which makes it hard to understand for those unfamiliar with the games when other bald, superhuman, barcode tattooed men show up on screen). Thirdly, while Tim's portrayal is alright it still doesn't come anywhere close to the 47 we came to know from the games.
Also - why was there a black clone?!?!? The clones which 47 came from were all genetically formed from 5 different people, none of which were that ethnicity (if I recall correctly).
I also recall people complaining about the possibility of 47s character being rooted in religion and the like...well that was all a giant joke played by the trailers...there's only an extremely small smidget of religious connection involved with 47 in the film.

Actually, if you listen to the begining of the movie it changes it from clones to street children that are kidnapped.
It was pretty good, but he should've talked less, his lines all sucked.
