Teutonic order as final adversary - which faction do i have to play ??

So i started the teutonic campaign as Novgorod and as Denmark. In both campaign the teutonic order was derstroyed very quickly (around round 40 to 50). Which faction do i have to play to encounter the Teutonic Order as a strong final faction ????

Just type in the console the cheat that adds money to that faction. You can add money to the faction other than the one you are playing currently you know.

Or, Play as HRE , and send them money whenever you can...


I'll be willing to bet that a HRE Vs Teutonic Order would be an awesome showdown.

My guess might by Lithuania if you'd be able to make peace with them early. Usually Lithuana wipes them out too fast. Either that or play as a different faction and wipe out most of the Lituanians (their armies), so that the Teutons can grow that way. Or play as Novgorod and wipe out Lith and then just gift over the provinces.

i agree with FuriousSpurius, i played as teutons and Lithuania faced extinction(not just from me) so i marched to minsk(mongols) conquered it and gave it to lithuania and another city from novgorod. Now they are sending full stacks towards me again
resumé give them a province or two, heck conquer the island(visby) and give them this, it makes decent money and the AI doesn't launch to many assaults toward it.

u r just unlucky i think. i played as Poland and without doing anything(i was busy with Hre) Lithuania was wiped out by teuts, despite Novgorodians r helping them.
Now as Denmark Lithuania is left with 3 town, the ones that grow very slowly, isolated from each other and surrounded by the Teutonic horde

In my hre campaign the teutons were a superpower and after a long alliance with them it turned into me and my vassal poland vs teutons and their vassal, the mongols.

I think its down to chance. In my Denmark campaign, only the Tuetons and Novgorod are left in any strength, and I'm having to fight hard against both.

according to your experiences Teutons survive, but in not in my case playing as Novgorod and Denmark. So on what difficulty level do you play ???

It's very easy. Go with the Lithuanians and you will be tired of seeing them attacking you. In turn 64 they still exist with three cities. But the teutonics only have been in war with me.

Is it true the Mongols cannot train any units? Or at least only militia units?

They are very underpowered, in my opinion, they were a serious threat to all of Eastern Europe...

Well, I think not. But is certain that the mongols are one of the few factions that buy a lot of mercenaries, and also they use a lot of town militia. But in some battles I have seen them with 6 or 7 brand new Mongol Infantry (the archer type) therefore perhaps they got restrictions in recruitment. All the same, in my game the mongol have arrived to the walls of Riga, and only the Novgorodians have stopped them.

MunichRules: i played with Denmark at VH/VH, i should still have the save game so i may include some screenshoots if i find a way to upload them.

Aetius: Mongols can create units, the reason u won't face most of their cavalry is because they r recruitable in castles, Mongols don't have any. so they create only militias or Mongol Infantry
